4.05 Wolverhampton

Now, trainer George Prodromou’s strike rate at Wolverhampton isn’t as good as we normally highlight in this feature (6/46 in Wolverhampton handicaps = 13%), but he does have a decent level stakes profit of over 23pts in that spell. Today he has one runner at the track: Trip Switch: a very interesting horse.  This horse had a long break from racing and then came back to win 4 races and finish second twice before a 5th place last time out. This one relishes the all-weather and is a course & distance winner, he wasn’t beaten by much last time out (just over 2 lengths in 5th) off today’s mark, but the in-form Darren Egan takes a very handy 7lbs off today. The jockey’s own record at Wolverhampton is very encouraging too: 3 wins from the last 6 rides.

All told, I think there’s enough there for us to go at and Trip Switch is the selection for today. I’m not sure which way the odds will go on this one, but it’s currently available at 3/1 BOG: which is what I’m going to take, but you can always…
