Be My Light ran his race yesterday, but wasn’t quite good enough to make the frame. At an advised 20/1, we got a decent enough run for our money, but we finished 6th of an eventual 14 runners. Our current losing run stands at three, but we’re aiming to break that today with a trip to Berkshire and the banks of the River Thames and the only figure-of-eight Flat course in the country. John Gosden’s horses are really firing at the monent (6 winners in the last fortnight with a 26% strike rate) and his record at Windsor is excellent in recent times. 50% of his runners here made the frame in 2011 and his win strike rate was a very impressive 36%! So, I was very interested to see that he has just the one runner today in the form of Falkland. This horse should surely come on for having a previous outing at Doncaster and should be race-fit for today. He wasn’t given a particularly hard race last time out and it looks like this one will suit him better.
He’s a well-bred type (out of Rock of Gibraltar) and although he won’t make us rich today (I’m taking 11/8 BOG!), I fully expect to see Falkland in the winner’s enclosure just after 4 o clock this afternoon. You might want to wait until the market has settled, in which case I’d recommend you…
