Stat of the Day, 18th February 2013
Callhimwhatyouwant did get called a few choice things yesterday, as his ‘can’t jump won’t jump’ attitude cost him all chance of winning here. In a race which took its toll on most of the runners (only three of the seven finished), it was something of a miracle that our fellow managed to get round.
He was fairly well supported, going off at 9/2 from our suggested 13/2 early price, but really he’s going to need to jump a LOT better in order to win a race.
It’s a big priced horse today, in the…
Both horse and jockey have interesting statistical credentials this afternoon and, in combination, make the price available look pretty tidy.
Firstly, Sue Smith is a demon around here: her runners have recorded a 35.06 unit profit in the last five years… and her chasers a better still 39.21 profit (twenty winners from 102 runners).
Smith runs two with chances today. The first is You Know Yourself in the 3.40 contest. But the one which catches my eye – especially at the price – is Camden George in the following event.
George has only won two races over fences, from 27 starts, but he’s placed second or third another eleven times. And his two wins were on soft and heavy ground, and at around this trip (one slightly shorter, one slightly longer).
Moreover, he’s won off a mark of 123 and today races off just 112. This is his seasonal debut, and his record on first run each season is 313U03. Now, Camden George is a twelve year old and it’s possible his best days are behind him, but he did win on his penultimate start in this grade…
…which brings me on to why he’s Stat of the Day today (finally!). Camden George has run in Class 4 races nine times, and he’s placed in all nine of them! His record in the grade reads 222332231. Frustrating, yes, but super consistent.
And, as he’s a… 28/1 (!) shot today, I’ll have some each way, best odds guaranteed, with BetVictor.
[Incidentally, this is one of the tipping competition races today, sponsored by BetVictor, so if you don't already have one, now is a great time to sign up for a Victor account. You can do that from the banner below]

Stat of the Day, 18th February 2013,

Thanks Matt!
Used this one as my competition entry, thinking it was a bit left field – not any more, clearly
Cheers

Particularly good write up today, congratulations Matt. Win/Lose or ….. no one can argue with your A1 research. Many Thanks
