She ran ok yesterday, did Sudden Wish, but was outpaced at the end, and finished fifth at 14/1. Of course, one of the other two Evans/McLaughlin runners won, at 6/1.
Anyway, no excuses, Binary January continues. Today, it’s a fairly hopeful win only play, in the…
Some turf racing, and Donald McCain is a man for the Northern jumps scene all right. He’s especially effective with his chasers up at Ayr where, in the last five seasons, he’s recorded eleven winners from 28 starts (39%) and a profit of 22.49 units.
Today he runs dual course and distance winner, Stormin Exit. This horse was formerly trained by Jim Goldie to win those two over track and trip, and is having his second start for McCain this afternoon.
The going should be fine, with the horse having won on good, good to soft, and twice on heavy. As for the two and a half mile trip, well our fellow has won three and placed one out of seven attempts, so this looks optimal.
He’s within two pounds of his last winning rating, which should be fine, and he’s never been out of the first two in five Class 3 handicap chases (form figures of 12212). The last of those runs was when second after more than a year off last time out, and that should have put him spot on for this.
Stormin Exit has a versatile running style, so will be able to adapt to whatever pace scenario emerges and, with pretty much everything in his favour, he ought to run well, despite strong support for the favourite, Consigliere, and third favourite, Tail Of The Bank.
7/2 is fine for me, and I’m win only and hopeful at that!

Little to no doubt, Ciaran, alas. He went from tanking to nothing, and looked a bouncer all over. I had quite a decent bet too.
