World Hurdle Tipping Competition: Day 4

Who will replace Big Buck's as World Hurdle winner?

Who will usurp Big Buck's as World Hurdle winner?

And so to day four. A couple of double figure odds winners yesterday means nobody found both. But thirteen and fourteen of you spotted one or the other, and that has had a profound bearing on the leader board, with a clear leader. Below is the full story of all scoring players. Everyone else is on -5 or -6, depending on whether you nominated a non-runner at some point.

Today's races, as we get to the sharp end of the contest, are:

3.40 Kelso

4.50 Thurles

Here's the leader board in full. Add your nominations for today's races in the comments on this page below. Remember, one good priced winner can still put you in the lead. And two or three of the last four race winners (two races today, two more tomorrow) might see you romp home even if you're not yet off the mark. :)

You’ve got to be kidding, Mark! This is just a pleasant diversion from the real work (forex launch, racecards on site, odds comparison engine build, and a few other surprises for next week!)

I’ve never had a fortnight like the last two weeks – need a break!

  1. david berry says:

    15.40 FUNKY MUNKY
    16.50 LASCLAHALL

Unable to find my name and position on the board have been entering can you check please

  2. Josh W says:

looks tricky, and with a deficit to make up i will go with…

    3.40 Scimon Templar
    4.50 Robertstown Rover

not holding out too much hope! Good luck

  3. Michael says:

    Full Speed & Lascalahall
I correctly predicted Vinetta on the first day but that isn’t reflected in the table.
    Cheers, Mike

  4. watto says:

    3.40. Scimon Templar

Bit of a long shot and has not shown much so far, but he’s a young horse, & unexposed, trainer’s good course record & no other course entries today justify taking on a v short priced jolly.

    4.20 Lascalahall

Chase ability not equal to hurdle ability so far, but still got time to redeem himself & jockey booking catches the eye.

  5. Andy says:

    3.40 Kelso CIRCUS CLOWN
    4.50 Thurles POPAFLORA.

I gave VINETTA on monday but tis is not reflected in your table.
probably dosn’t matter as i’m a long way off the pace anyway.

  6. dan says:

    3.40 JULIA TOO
    4.50 POPAFLORA
Backed these two because i’ve got a daughter called Julia and a Dad called Pop!

  7. Chris Worrall says:

Both short priced favs will probably win, but that won’t help me win this thing! So I’m going with:
    3.40 Kelso: Funky Munky
    4.50 Thurles: Robertstown Rover

  8. Daithi says:

3:40 Attycran, goes well fresh, drop in trip should suit, decent form from last race (Green Flag 130).Has to break it’s duck some day!!

4:50 Son of Moyne, has had the fav bhd a cpl times in recent races, goes well in front, has Course form,Won 24f here off 90 !!

      • Matt Bisogno says:

I know the feeling Dick – you didn’t miss much in any case! (Entry won’t count today should your other horse win – apologies but rulez is rulez, etc)

  9. Michael says:

Missed the 1st race Dam !! can i still have a go at the 2nd ? Letterlee Star 4.50 TH , Sorry if i can’t gutted if it wins !!

  10. Matt Bisogno says:

Gosh, that was hard work at Thurles. Letterlee Star bagged the spoils, outslogging only four other finishers (from fifteen who left the start), at odds of 7/1.

Twenty of you nailed that one, with five snapping up both winners today.

    Good work, update to follow!

  11. Matt Bisogno says:

According to my – granted, dubious – maths, I reckon French Freddy, who pulled me up on my Rule 4 error earlier in the week is clear trailblazer.

He’s on an impressive 22.23 points, with no fewer than FIVE winners so far, from eight races.

    Great work!

In second place are Denis Hatcher and Tony Derrick, both with 16.5 points, accrued from different horses.

Daithi is fourth on 15 points, and we now have – I believe – 59 players in profit and 131 who have found at least one winner.

That’s at least one more winner than me, so well done!

Last day tomorrow, and still much to play for. :)

  12. Chris Vaughan says:

i think when winnng both days it should be classed as a double not that will catch the leader Fench Freddy who will then be romping home. but gives us all some hope by picking a big odds double in the last. good fun Chris

  13. rayclubbe says:

very interesting. no money put on whatsoever yet a great kick from picking up the few winners. goes to show we all just love the thrill of picking a winner. well done to all the lads and lasses great fun
