World Hurdle Tipping Competition: Day 5

World Hurdle tickets

Who will claim this pair of beauties?

It's the final day of this week's tipping competition, and what a week it's been. Some truly impressive performances, most notably - to date - from French Freddy, who has notched FIVE of the eight winners and a level stakes profit of 22.23 units. Excellent work.

But there's still much to play for. Thirteen players are within 11.5 points of Freddy and, if FF picks two losers today, those who pick two winners will be two points nearer to the summit.

So get your thinking caps on!

As an incentive for you to play if you're nearer the foot of the league (like me!), I'll be publishing a table of all scoring players after today's second race. Remember, you're playing for two tickets to Ladbrokes World Hurdle day, kindly provided by the sponsors (see image top right).

Today's races are:

3.05 Lingfield (#10, My Scat Daddy a non-runner)

4.05 Sandown (#3, Clowance House, and #7, Be All Man are non-runners)

Same drill as all week - add your full name and your two selections in a comment below.

Good luck!

Now then, as well as these lovely tickets for this week's competition, we'll be starting afresh next week with a new competition, and some betting vouchers courtesy of our friends at BetVictor.

In fact, BetVictor have stepped in to offer free bets to the tune of £200 to be won over the next four weeks! 😀

There will be some slight rule changes, but nothing onerous. The key one is that you MUST have a BetVictor account to enter, as the prizes will be paid into your account for betting purposes.

The other one of note is that - so that everyone can enter - I'll be nominating the competition races the night before.

So look out for an email from me on Sunday evening about that. In the meantime, do get over to BetVictor and register if you haven't already. (You'll need your username to enter). Oh yeah, and they'll also match your first bet with a free wager up to £25, which is pretty good.

    Welsh Inlet & Heronry

Thanks Matt – good fun following the stats this week. I’m delighted to be sitting in joint 12th position!

  2. N.W.Racing says:

FAO Matt, Ive had 2 winners and a non-runner (you got me down as one winner). Anyhow im not going to win anything. Good Luck to all that are in with a shout today. And thank you Matt for running a successful competition.

    • Matt Bisogno says:

Don’t think so NW – see below. Only Coverholder won… but having given you 0 from -1 for Noble Jack, which was a non-runner.

BOO HOO! Im not on board!

3.05 LINGFIELD, MISS FLEUR. Has won over CD and could go well from competitive weight, although not proven on ground.
3.15 SOUTHWELL, NAZREEF. Comes out well on our ratings, 100% strike rate on the Southwell surface & well handicapped.

3’40 CATT, FAIRYNUFF, Has been a bumper winner at Catterick and should run a good race at
      decent odds after a lay-off.
4’30 WOLV, NOBLE JACK, Fancied by connections today & has a 50% strike rate on all-
      weather surfaces.

  3. David says:

    3.05 Ling – JACKIE LOVE
    4.05 Sand – GOODTOKNOW

I actually prefer Patavium Prince at LIngfield but this was my 2nd choice and I’m point chasing!!

    • Matt Bisogno says:

Sorry Steve – the non-runners are a nightmare to administer over 220 entries!!! Will reinstate your 0 😉

  4. Derrick Wood says:

Good Morning Matt, This has been a great week and a great Idea, I am shocked to be in 14th place, Todays selections are….Ling 3.05…Welsh Inlet…..Sand 4.05….Be All Man………Really enjoyed the week and looking forward to the next competition.

  5. Iain MacMIllan says:

    3.05: Purley Queen
    4.05: Good to Know

Need to go for long shots to try and win the tickets. However these are not without a chance, might do a wee ew dbl just in case.

  6. mark worthington says:

Ling 305 Welsh Inlet Sand 405 Ctappers
Great competition Matt. Thanks for administering and thanks too to your son who I notice from twitter was helping with the heavy workload.

  7. Michael says:

Hi Matt, I’ve had two winners but the table only shows one, it’s irrelevant anyway as I’m so far from the top….
Today I’ll go for Ensnare & Be All Man
    Cheers, Mike

  8. robert says:

    3.05 Ling. Welsh Inlet
    4.05 Sand. Good to Know
Still havent found a winner but love to have a go Thank you Matt

  9. Debs says:

    3.05 Jackie Love
    4.05 Good to Know

And could I join with others above to thank Matt for a great idea and a fun week [couldn’t get to a computer yesterday or Weds so couldn’t enter, so a ‘night before’ option would be much appreciated].

Good Luck everyone, particularly those who are in with a shout.

  10. Watto says:

l need too many points. So more in hope than expectation…..

    3.05 Purley Queen

Showed a glimmer of form last time out, she’s nothing special running against nothing special.

    4.05 Goodtoknow

Step up in trip should suit this young relatively unexposed type

Thank you Matt for the competition it’s been enjoyable fun.

  11. MikeA says:

3.05 Jackie Love – recent CD winner off same mark, looks overpriced
4.05 Goodtoknow – should improve for extra distance, also looks overpriced

Good luck all. Matt, this has been great fun, thank you!

  12. denis says:

A pin job today as my comp is running slower than the snails in my garden last summer. No research and Lingfield.Ahhhhh!!!!!. LOL.

Good luck everyone. and a great compertition Matt, well done.

    cheers denis.

  13. Derrick Wood says:

Hi Matt, Just niticed that Be All Men 4.05 LING has been pulled, Can I re-place it with Heronry ?
    I hope so, Thanks

  14. Chris Worrall says:

Desperate times call for desperate measures, so it’s:
3.05: Purley Queen (providing she doesn’t miss the break again)
4.05: Goodtoknow: gets the heavy going and looked like needing this step up in trip LTO.

  15. Dave says:

    Ling 3.05 – Sannibel first time at 7 f & I need a big price winner
Sand 4.05 Market Option , Venus Williams need i say more
Great competition hope there’s a lot more to come

  16. Johnny5 says:

    Hi Matt
    3:05 BABY DOTTIE

Been abroad all week so shame not really got involved
    – a couple of outsiders w a chance hopefully

Nice idea this Matt – much appreciated

Shame next weeks prize with VC who have this week
just blocked / banned me from betting on their BOG site as they
are pished off I’ve won too much from them this month !!. They
arn’t my friends those accountant cowards . If I win I’ll donate the £200
betting voucher for u to use for a charity bet as I won’t be able
to use it with those clowns in Gibraltar

Nice adverts Victor but your people are pathetic

Whoever does win this comp will be banned ASAP if their free £200
    bet is a winner !!!

  17. Joel Bown says:

Didn’t even make it on the table behind the minuses, must of been some bad tipping!

    15.05 Ensnare
    16.05 Billy Dutton

    Cheers for the comp, Matt.

  18. FrenchFreddy says:

Thank you Matt for this great comp, have really enjoyed it. I haven’t ever had so many winners in close proximity, don’t know what’s happened ! Best of luck to everyone today. Anyway, down to the wire now and today’s selections are

    3.05 Lingfield – PATAVIUM PRINCE
    4.05 Sandown – LIBERTY COURT

  19. Chris A says:

Been great fun Matt & well chuffed to be in the top ten to date and with a half decent chance of still winning. For one last time this week, here goes:

    Lingfield 3.05 Spirit of Xaar
    Sandown 4.05 Lost Legend

  20. John Doland says:

Hi Matt Just to say a great idea and fun to boot,I’ve always thought I’m the world’s worst punter andthis comp has proved it but never mind and good luck to whoever wins it.But I’m going to stick with my system and hope to show a profit on the week.
    3.05 Ling – Patavium Prince
    4.05 Sand – Heronry

  21. Matt Bisogno says:

    Ensnare – 3.05
    Billy Dutton – 4.05

Getting desperate! Obviously, even in the extremely unlikely event of me winning I’d still send tickets to second placed person.

I’m pretty confident we’ll not have to worry about that..! 😉

  22. Simon says:

3.05 Baby Dottie – Loves the course
4.05 Regal approach – Has ability if on a going day, trainer inform & good Jockey

  23. Matt Bisogno says:

Hereford Boy – just – from the desperation-seekers’ Sannibel!

5/1 your winner, and nominated by fifteen of you.

  24. Matt Bisogno says:

Interim update: Tony Derrick has a quarter point lead over French Freddy, with 1.5 units back to Krish Kumar in third.

All to play for in the lucky last!

  25. Matt Bisogno says:

No help to the miracle seekers, as favourite Heronry, under a very confident Barry Geraghty ride, wins with a fair bit in hand at odds of 9/4.

Not much use to anyone chasing the front-runners, and indeed the top three stay as they are. Unofficial winner – by a short head – is Tony Derrick.
