1.55: Four-year-olds have won seven of the last fourteen renewals of this Goodwood Stakes event, notwithstanding the narrow ‘three parts’ defeat of my fancy Seaside Sizzler two years ago at 14/1. Just four representatives lined up last year when securing a 341/1 forecast between them. Four clear market leaders and one joint favourite have scored during the last fifteen years, whilst eleven of the twenty-two favourites have claimed toteplacepot positions during the study period. Nicky Henderson (Courtesy Call & Lieutenant Miller) and Mark Johnston (Good Morning Star & Broxbourne) are the only trainers to have won two renewals during the last decade.

2.30: Market leaders of one description or another have won five of the last seven renewals of the Group 3 Gordon Stakes, whilst the last nine gold medallists have been returned at a top price of 7/1.

3.05: The last five favourites of the Group 1 Sussex Stakes have obliged, whilst three-year-olds have won nine of the last fourteen renewals. Six clear market leaders and one joint favourite have obliged during the last fifteen years, whilst thirteen of the sixteen market leaders secured toteplacepot positions in the process.

3.40: Richard Hannon comes to the gig on a four timer on this occasion, with Richard being represented by Expert and Toormore on this occasion. Eight of the last sixteen favourites have prevailed, whilst ten market leaders claimed toteplacepot positions in the process.

4.15: Nine clear market leaders and one joint favourite (level stake profit of £825.22 to one hundred pound stakes) have prevailed during the last sixteen years. Thirteen of the nineteen favourites have secured toteplacepot positions during the study period.

4.50: Three-year-olds have won nine of the last eleven renewals, whilst vintage representatives landed a 1-2-3 result in each of the last two years. 14/1-7/1-22/1 chances filled the frame two years ago, before three-year-olds dominated last year‘s renewal at 16/1-10/1-10/1. Five favourites have obliged during the last eleven years, whilst seven of the twelve market leaders secured toteplacepot positions during the study period.
