Everyone calls me Paul
Forgive me going off-subject, but I last posted on football here when (as an MCFC season ticket holder) I put up Chelsea in the FA Cup tie against us a couple of years ago when it was obvious Pellegrini would put out a severely weakened team before jetting off to the Ukraine. I posted odds against and the price at kick off was in the region of 4/6 if memory serves.
Well, we’re back to the Ukraine this week but it’s arse about face this time. Now we’re qualified already as group winners in the Champions League but have the small matter of the Manchester derby on our return. Despite making noises about honouring the competition (both Shakhtar and Napoli can qualify behind us) I will be very surprised, not to mention disappointed, if Guardiola doesn’t make numerous changes. He’s already without De Bruyne through suspension, he’ll probably play Mangala and possibly Adarabioyo at centre half, will almost certainly rest Walker and Delph, and a midfield likely comprising Yaya, Gundogan and Bernardo Silva is very undercooked in terms of game time this season. Given the trouble the gave us in Manchester, the fact they have beaten Napoli at home already, and the possible team selection, I reckon 11/8 (Hills, plenty of 13/10 around) is more than a little overpriced.
I’ve not had the ton I had on Chelsea – I’m not as confident of the likely team – but I’ve had a decent bet.
