Epic Warrior was a proverbial ‘flesh and blood’ bet yesterday, and sometimes you have to accept that horses will get beaten for that very reason.
Today’s shortlist consists of…

Newmarket 3.40 Tasleet
Newmarket 4.15 Flying Officer
Pontefract 4.35 Fattsota

Tasleet is a horse I like. Possibly won in spite of the good-to-soft ground in a sales race at York last time (William Haggis felt the horse was not at his best that day), so conditions are a concern, and has to prove himself over today’s 7f.
Flying Officer hosed up in a conditions race at Salisbury last time and was second in this race last year. Has only ever won on his seasonal debut though and is prone to niggling little injuries.
Fattsota is unlikely to get an uncontested lead today and heralds from a yard currently on the cold list, but has the form in the book to win here.

It’s close between Tasleet and Flying Officer, but for my best of the day I’m going for…

Newmarket 4.15 FLYING OFFICER

…who I’ll put up as a highlighted horse as opposed to a 1 pt recommended bet due to him usually having to be very fresh to get his head in front.
