Melvin The Grate, not for the first time, blew the start at Leicester yesterday and was unable to get competitive as a result, in a race where the winner was given far too much rope. Andrew Balding’s horses just don’t seem to be firing at the moment and unfortunately we’ve suffered as a consequence.
On to today’s shortlist, which is…

Nottingham 3.35 Bathos
Towcester 3.25 Cool Macavity (Non-Runner)
Ludlow 4.25 Jayo Time

Bathos is attempting the five timer and has improved steadily as the season has progressed. He shouldn’t be overburdened with 9-7 today as he’s a big brute of a horse, and providing he’s as effective on this slightly more testing ground, has solid claims.
Cool Mcavity doesn’t run.
Jayo Time has more on his plate than when winning for the first time over fences at Uttoxeter (has a record of Won 0 Placed 0 Unplaced 3 in Class 3 company) the outing before last, but has benefited from the application of cheek pieces on his last two starts for his new yard and should remain competitive.

I’m with…

Nottingham 3.35 BATHOS

…for my best of the day. And I’ll even put him up as a 1 pt recommended bet.
