Bathos was easy to back at Nottingham yesterday and just didn’t seem to get home in the conditions, eventually finishing last of the five runners.
Our other shortlisted horse, Jayo Time, won at 5-1 (unbacked, of course!), which brings me to a point about the shortlists.
If there’s a horse that appears on the list that you fancy, or you feel represents value, by all means back it as such animals will provide you with an edge. My interpretation of the list is just as an opinion, and as regular readers know, I do miss plenty of opportunities – too many over recent days, but that’s one of the hazards of the job, unfortunately.
Today’s list consists of…

Exeter 3.30 King Fontaine
Exeter 5.10 Bulletproof
Worcester 4.15 What A Laugh

Bulletproof has finally come good at Newton Abbot the last twice and, if as effective over this much stiffer course, has claims of landing the hat-trick.
What A Laugh has never won over timber, indeed he has never won outside of Hunter Chase company. Unexposed over hurdles but the drop back to the minimum trip here must be a concern.

Not the strongest of shortlists. If pushed I’d go for Bulletproof, and you could argue that he’s fair value at 11-4, but I’d be inclined to let these three run, so…
