Air Force Blue was backed as if defeat was out of the question in the Dewhurst at Newmarket yesterday. Never have I heard Michael Tabor so bullish about the chance of one of his horses in a Group 1 race and such was the ease of victory he was immediately installed as short as even money favourite for next years 2,000 Guineas, where he must take all of the beating.
Returned at a BSP of 1.75, evens and 11-10 were still available at the time of posting, and for once I was quite happy in accepting such a short price as the odds collapsed.
On to today’s shortlist, which is…

Curragh 2.25 Fort Del Oro
Curragh 4.40 Ebayya
Goodwood 4.45 Classic Villager

Fort Del Oro has done very little wrong on her four racecourse starts to date. However, she does herald from the Edward Lynam yard, which has been really struggling for any semblance of form of late.
Ebayya made hard work of winning her maiden the outing before last but has progressed since. She does need to improve again here but could well do so over a trip that will suit.
Classic Villager is attempting the four timer and comes into this race with good, proven attributes, with just a slight question mark about whether he’s just that little bit better going left-handed.

I’m going for…

…as best of the day. He looks good value at 4-1 BOG to complete the four timer, and I’ll even put him up as a 1 pt recommended bet.
