Solow got the job done in his usual workmanlike style at Ascot yesterday returned at a BSP of 2.22 having been available at 6-4 BOG at the time of posting.
Today’s shortlist has an international flavour to it, being…
Woodbine 10.42 Second Step
Naas 5.05 Almela
Kempton 3.50 Koultas King
Second Step has more than a sporting chance in tonight’s Grade 1 Canadian International having won a decent German Group 1 the outing before last before appearing not to get home in the Irish St Leger last time. As always, a lot has to be taken on trust in these types of races but I’m expecting a good run from Luca Cumani’s charge.
Almela ran away with a Galway maiden first time up by a mind boggling 19l. Has since progressed to be touched off by a head in a Listed race over the same C&D and has decent claims here if as effective on today’s much faster ground.
Koultas King shaped well on his chasing debut at Stratford the outing before last. Has more on his plate here though and his best form to date has come on more galloping tracks than here.
I’m going for…
Naas 5.05 ALMELA
…as my best of the day. I’ll put her up as a highlighted horse as opposed to a 1 pt recommended bet due to the unproven going, but she still looks fair value at 9-4 BOG.
