Helium won easily enough at Worcester yesterday, travelling well throughout , despite not always being fluent at his fences. The BSP returned 4.65, which does look rather generous in hindsight considering I was on at 3-1 BOG!
Today’s shortlist is…

Carlisle 3.25 Hadfield
Carlisle 3.55 Orange Nassau
Ludlow 3.10 Lyric Street

Hadfield was a tad disappointing when turned over at a short price at Perth last time, but got the job done well enough first time up at Worcester. Given his racing manner today’s stiff track should suit, and he heralds from the John Ferguson yard, who can do very little wrong at present.
Orange Nassau does all his winning under big weights and has been found a good opportunity by Charlie Longsdon here. Unlikely to get an uncontested lead, however, and there’s also a slight doubt about the track.
Lyric Street shaped well enough on his chasing debut at Worcester last time and is entitled to progress, Donald McCain’s horses aren’t quite firing at present, which is a concern, although he does saddle two fancied runners at Southwell before this race.

I’m going for…

Carlisle 3.25 HADFIELD

…as my best of the day. He does need to find improvement here though (has the scope to do so), so I’ll put him up as a highlighted horse as opposed to a 1 pt recommended bet.
