Dormello Mo ran a fair race in defeat at Cheltenham yesterday in what was probably his best effort to date over the larger obstacles. But the bottom line is he got beat, so let’s hope we fair better with today’s shortlist, which is…

Doncaster 3.45 Foundation
Newbury 1.50 Start Time
Leopardstown 3.30 Blue De Vega

Foundation is progressive and probably had more in hand when beating Deauville in the Royal Lodge at Newmarket last time than the official 3/4l margin suggests. John Gosden has expressed doubts should there be any more rain, but this colt has very strong claims here if allowed to take his chance.
Start Time has more on his plate than when winning a Windsor handicap last time, albeit in good style, and has yet to race on a course of this nature. The step back to 7f may not be ideal in this company too.
Blue De Vega hacked up in a Naas maiden last time and is a promising prospect. Looks the one to beat today despite taking on two top yards in Mssr’s O’Brien and Bolger.

John Gosden’s…

Doncaster 3.45 FOUNDATION

…comes out marginally best, with Blue De Vega a clear second choice from today’s shortlist. Providing there’s no further rain he even merits a 1 pt recommended bet here.
