An inaccurate going report cost me a 2-1 winner yesterday. Two senior jockeys came back and said the ground was riding on the soft side of good up at Sedgefield, in which case we would of been on Amuse Me in the first. Instead, we were on Mossgo at Chelmsford, who made a complete pigs ear of the start, and that was that.
Today’s shortlist comprises of…
Down Royal 1.30 Listen Dear
Newmarket 1.25 Only Mine
Newmarket 2.35 Wild Storm
Listen Dear could well get an uncontested lead here, and providing she acts on the track has obvious claims. Probably wouldn’t want any more rain however, and has been turned over at short odds twice in her last three starts.
Only Mine has looked progressive over 6f. Again, she is another who may not want much more rain, but I’d be surprised if she wasn’t in the shake up here.
Wild Storm is another who is going the right way. Proven on an easy surface, she’s shaped as this 12f trip will suit, so providing she acts on the track has strong claims here.
I’m going for…
Newmarket 2.35 WILD STORM
…as my best of the day. I’ll put her up as a highlighted horse as opposed to a 1 pt recommended bet due to the doubts about the track, and there’s a possible lack of pace here too.
