I must admit I’ve had better days than yesterday, what with missing out on two shortlisted winners, only to watch my selection, Wild Storm, trail in last of the nine runners at Newmarket. Maybe it was the ground. Maybe it was the track. Or a combination of the two. But I suspect we’re dealing with a flesh and blood bet.
Today’s shortlist is…
Keeneland 6.10 Legatissimo
Newmarket 3.45 GM Hopkins
Wetherby 3.40 Mon Successeur
Legatissimo takes a very high level of form over the pond to Kentucky, and it’s only the fact that the David Wachman yard keeps having horses placing as opposed to getting itself in the winners enclosure that puts me off.
GM Hopkins has appeared unlucky the last twice, including in the Cambridgeshire, and must go close here. He is proven on soft, but that was in a Nottingham maiden, and he failed in his one attempt to date in Class 1 company.
Mon Succeseur is unbeaten from two starts over fences in his native France and is potentially well handicapped. Unfortunately I’m no expert on French form, but the Paul Nicholls yards is absolutely flying at present, which partly explains his rather cramped odds of 6-5.
I’m weighing in with…
Keeneland 6.10 LEGATISSIMO
…as my best of the day, and it’s only the wellbeing of the David Wachman yard that prevents me from putting her up as a 1 pt recommended bet. So we’ll go down the highlighted route instead.
