FGR – Best Of The Day
John Ferguson reported that Penglai Pavilion ran flat at Cheltenham yesterday and has ordered for the gelding to be scoped, so we probably ran into a ‘flesh and blood’ bet.
Today is, of course, Paddy Power Gold Cup day, where I expect Rebecca Curtis’ Irish Cavalier to give a good account at double figure odds (see yesterdays post), but today’s shortlist lies away from Prestbury Park, being…
Lingfield 2.00 Revolutionist
Wetherby 1.30 Snapping Turtle
Wetherby 3.50 Longueville Flyer
Revolutionist is attempting the four timer and has sufficient scope to be involved come the business end. Has more on his plate here however, and this race is no given.
Snapping Turtle ran well when attempting to make all at Sedgefield last time in what was, in effect, his seasonal debut. Consistent, and has less to do here, so should make a bold bid.
Longueville Flyer is not the quickest and is still a maiden under NH rules. Benefitted from the application of a first time hood when second over C&D last time and may well make the frame again today.
Revolutionist is unexposed and makes appeal but…
Wetherby 1.30 SNAPPING TURTLE @ 5-1 BOG
…has been found a good opportunity by trainer Donald Whillans, and may well make all here.
