Kim Bailey is based not far from Cheltenham at Andoversford and has trained four Festival winners, headed by a memorable double in 1995 when Alderbrook took the Champion Hurdle and Master Oats won the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

Bailey said: “I have certainly got my best team coming here for a long time. I have five horses and I would not swap any of them. They are all in good form, they all look well, and they have been trained for their races, so fingers crossed they all get here in one piece.

Vinndication runs in the Ultima Handicap Chase. He worked this morning and I was delighted with him. He has only run once this season, which won’t do him any harm as he has not been chuntering around on heavy ground all winter. He has won seven out of nine. He got beat at Sandown last season and we weren’t hugely happy, but Defi Du Seuil and Lostintranslation were the two horses that beat him, so in hindsight it was a very good race.

Imperial Aura will go for the Northern Trust Company Novices’ Handicap Chase. He worked with Vinndication this morning. He has only had the three runs over fences and two of them have been here, so he has experience around the racecourse. He virtually had a walkover the first day at Fakenham and there were only four other runners when he came here in December, whereas when he ran here January at least there were 12 runners. He had a race amongst other horses, which was important. He comes here with a very live chance.

“The owners of Two For Gold are coming to see me on Monday, when we will have a final discussion about where he will run. I think it is likely that we will drop him back in trip for the Brown Advisory & Merriebelle Stable Plate, which Darna won for us a few years ago.

New Tide will go for the National Hunt Chase, while Espoir de Romay will go for the Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle and Chester Williams will ride him.”
