In this post, rising star of the National Hunt training ranks, Anthony Honeyball, offers a comprehensive lowdown on his team for the 2014/15 season. The yard has been upwardly mobile since Anthony took out a license in 2006 and, last season, despite several horses being affected by a virus, recorded its second best haul of winners, with twenty.
The 2014/15 season began for the Mosterton, Dorset, handler with a winner on 6th May and, since then, there have been seven more, from just 34 runners (24%) for a profit of £17.75 to a £1 level stake.
In this extended audio interview, recorded the day before Chill Factor made it eight wins for the season, Anthony discusses his entire team and his hopes for each, including some very nice unraced horses, one of which is to be syndicated through geegeez.co.uk - see below for more details.

Exciting New Racehorse Syndicate Opportunity
Anthony already trains a horse for geegeez.co.uk readers, who formed a syndicate around this time last year. The horse, The Geegeez Geegee (who else?!), ran twice in National Hunt Flat races to begin his career. He was a good third, giving weight to both the winner and second on his debut; and followed that up with a win next time.
That was extremely exciting and we're very much looking forward to seeing what he can do over hurdles this term.
The 2014 syndicate horse is a Bienamado gelding out of Fairpark, a dam who can already lay claim to a Listed chase second from three foals of racing age. Anthony is really pleased with this fellow, and hopes to run him at the end of October, all being well.
He describes him as a flashy type, with a similar look to Alan King's Valdez. In the audio above, Anthony discusses the Bienamado at 1:07:30, and he says,
"If this horse was by Milan, he'd have fetched 40 or 50,000 Euros. He's the bargain of my purchases at the sales"
Here is some footage of the gelding working with a horse that cost three times as much.
The syndicate will be made up as follows:
- 12 equal shares at £1,250+VAT, of which I shall be taking (at least) one. This covers initial purchase price, mortality insurance, and a contribution to his keep since purchase in May.
- Monthly payments of £160, with nothing else to pay except in the event of major surgery. (The terms covering this are in the Syndicate Agreement, available at this link)
- Syndicate members will be 'owners' and will have full owner rights: owner badges when he runs, stable visits, 1/12th share of prize money earned
I'm looking to draw the syndicate up in the next week to ten days, so if interested, please click this link to let me know.
If you have any questions about the syndicate, please leave them in the comments section below, as it's likely others will be wondering something similar!
Very excited to be offering this great value syndicate for what looks another cracking prospect (listen to Anthony at 71:16 in the above audio), and if he can achieve what The Geegeez Geegee has in his first season - with all the promise for the future that is there - that would be fantastic.
