I'd have struggled to pick my own nose if asked yesterday, such was the performances of my own bets! I didn't fare any better here either. Thunder Sheik didn't jump well and despite conceding bags of weight all round, he was placed 3rd and beaten by just a short head and a head in a tight finish.

This made Al Thumana's run purely academical, which was just as well as she finished 5th of 6 runners, a good 14 lengths off the leader.

Undeterred, I've dusted myself off and I'll try again, starting in the...

4.10 Leicester

The Godolphin empire is doubly represented here with both Thouwra and our selection Entrenched entered for this one. Most will attract support throughout the day, but I prefer Entrenched for a couple of reasons. The booking of Mickael Barzalona would suggest that this is the first string and the horse makes his 2nd appearance today for a yard with a great record of getting horses to improve from ordinary debuts  (35.5% strike rate).  No long odds here, as tends to be the case in such small fields, but at 11/4 BOG, we'll hopefully have a few quid riding on the...

6.10 Epsom

Where I'm siding with top weight Sky Khan, who comes here in top form and fitness fresh from an easy win over hurdles at Uttoxeter nine days ago, which rounded off a very consistent hurdling season. He now returns to flat action and his winter of hurdling should mean he won't lack for stamina. He progressed nicely on the Flat last season, improving in each of his four races, which culminated in a win at Leicester on his last Flat outing. Of the seven runners he beat that day, four have gone on to win since, whilst two of them have raced at Listed and/or Group race level. Another smallish field means pretty short odds, but the 15/8 currently available looks reasonable at least.

Back EntrenchedSky Khan in a double with Bet365 paying just over 9/1 BOG (9.3125/1)

Are you really serious? The last 10 dd horses have made some of the worst performances I’ve ever seen. This is absolutely not professional, I could do better without my eyes

      Hi Matteo

It’s true, we are struggling with the DD. We’ve admitted as much. But presumably you’re also following Stat of the Day, and maybe the placepot picks. I didn’t see any positive comment from you there, only a negative one from you here.

In any case, please do feel free to add your own two horses each day (with or without your eyes!) in the comments section. If you make the noise, you should have something behind it, don’t you think?

      Matt

      Matteo,

I know that Matt has already replied to you, but as I’m currently the author of the DD (and SotD), I felt the need to have my say too. To be quite frank the results for DD have been shocking and I’m as disappointed as anyone is about this.

You can challenge my reasoning behind each individual pick if you like, you may very well be a better judge of horses than I am, you may also be in better form than I am at present.

However, you cannot question my professionalism. You don’t know how I arrive at my selections for both DD & SotD and how much time I spend researching the picks, so to blindly question my professional integrity is absurd. Perhaps your eyes were closed when you wrote that, too?

      Chris

Matt please don’t be touchy, I’m critic but I don’t want to offend you because I respect you and your site very much. Sometimes I feel a bit confused about some content, we’ve discussed once before on the SotD aim and I was wrong because I missed the true meaning and I was rude. When I’ve seen the new DD I thought “what a great idea”, but now I can say I’m a bit disappointed. You have to find winners now, there are no half measures! Consider my outburst as a gesture to spur you on, you regularly proves to be a smart person.
I could put my 2 whenever you want, I’m not afraid, even if the risk of suicide is very high..

    • Matt Bisogno says:

Really, it’s no problem at all, Matteo, and you’re very welcome to add your two horses each day to the comments under the DD posts. If you’re really good, maybe we can hire you? 😉

I wasn’t being touchy – just encouraging you to add your thoughts in a more constructive way (for instance, by making a pair of picks each day).

      All best,
      Matt

LOL! For the first time ever negative comments from posters on GeeGeez aren’t assumed to be from me. This is my first post for a year, or more. I only check in now and again to see what’s happening at the weekend, but I had to laugh at an “exchange” you had with some other twat who you assumed was me. Not everyone is out to get you and I’m certainly not.

Hope you and and the family are doing well. Aaron isn’t a baby anymore, he’s a big boy now and into everything, just like his Dad. And I assume Leon will be the same.

Good luck and best wishes matey.
