Yes, you guessed it! Another placer was coupled with an unplaced effort yet again last night and it's becoming frustrating to say the least. The 8 yr old Dhhamaan came very close to winning race 1 for us, but was overhauled very late on, but still finished a very creditable third at 9/1, a good six lengths clear of his nearest rival and only beaten by a neck and a head.
So it was all set up for Diplomatic, who proceeded to run a stinker. He eventually finished 24 lengths away from the winner, back in 9th of 12 runners and the less said, the better!
I'm looking to a couple of fillies to do the business for us today, starting with...
This widely anticipated to be a shoot out between the top two in the market, but if Al Kazeem and Camelot take too much out of each other early doors, then The Fugue is the one most likely to benefit. As things stand, she warrants respect and on her day has every chance of taking this. Third last out at the breeders Cup meeting, where she encountered trouble on the rails and would most likely have won but for getting trapped. She's had a decent rest since then and at 6/1 looks a very good contender for a place at worst. William Buick rides for John Gosden today and they were 7/18 on horses under 12/1 at Royal Ascot in 2011 & 2012.
Hayley Turner rides If So for James Fanshawe this evening and this combination has won eight and made the frame a further six times from 24 starts here at Kempton since the start of 2011. The horse is in great form having three wins and two third places from her last five outings and further improvement is expected as she steps up an extra furlong tonight. She has stayed on well previously, so a move to 7f should prove too much of an issue and she looks good value at around 8/1.
The double pays 62/1 BOG today with Paddy Power, with the place element running at 11/2.
Back The Fugue & If So in an each way double with Paddy Power, the win part paying 62/1 (Best Odds Guaranteed)
