Daily Dabble, 21st March 2013

Another frustrating day yesterday, as the first leg was a good second at 11/2, but the second leg - despite going off much shorter at 3/1 - was never travelling and finished no better than sixth.

Our second leg today is a gimme: the sort of race bookies hate. But, in order for us to get to that one, we need to clear the first leg, which is the...

3.05 Wolverhampton

A competitive looking sprint handicap with plenty of in-form runners. None more so, maybe, than David O'Meara's Miss Bunter. This lass has run around Wolves six times, and has been placed on six of those occasions, winning three times.

One of those three wins was over this six furlong trip, which she seems to get fine, and good amateur, David Bergin, has ridden her twice here for form figures of 12.

There are others with chances, of course, but Miss Bunter ought to give her running with her trainer's string in good form too.

6.30 Kempton

The sort of race bookmakers hate. The 'dead eight' runners (currently), meaning three places, and a strong odds on favourite, albeit in a maiden. Storm is the 1/5 jolly, and he's entitled to be after his fast-finishing second over a furlong shorter on debut.

But that was at Lingfield, and it's not a certainty that he'll transfer Leafy form to Kempton. If he does, he'll probably win. But we can take the clear second favourite, Solvanna, each way.

Heather Main's filly has had a few goes in truth, but none in as moderate a field as this, and she looks to have very solid place prospects. If the favourite fails to run to his 'A game' for any reason, she is by far the most likely winner, and she's available at 13/2 and 7/1.

The double pays 36.5/1 with BetVictor, who are also best odds guaranteed. The place only part currently pays 3.14/1.

Back Miss Bunter and Solvanna in an each way double with BetVictor, with the win part paying 31.5/1 (Best Odds Guaranteed).

(And if you open a new account with BetVictor, they'll match your first bet with a free wager, up to £25.)

I’m on yours Matt, and I think they have a great chance. The two I’ve picked for my dabble today are Tantalised in 2.10 Chepstow, and One way Or Another in 2.30 Wolves.
I’ve even done all four in a yankee for added excitement.
    All the best
    Cheers

Nice place on the first and think with withdrawal of Lady Who you should be a shoe in for the place double. I’m going to watch Laura Mongan’s first time outer Indy Spirit at 28/1 currently on the premise none of these look particularly good and also she has a profitable record at Kempton albeit not with her 3 year olds. Best of luck with Solvana though, although its worst speed ratings have been over the 7f distance the rest of these aren’t great so can’t see it failing for the place!

Good stuff, Matt, £30.25 back for a fiver EW double. A place for SOTD makes it a good day all round (especially I was double staked on the Victory Gunner) 🙂

Well done Matt, two places makes a profit ! One I had came placed so I had three out of four on my Yankee, but all placed. Decent returns for three places though.
    Come on tomorrow !
    Cheers
