A bit of a damp squib yesterday, as our first runner My Viking Bay was a non-runner, leaving us with a single bet on Keep Kicking, who drifted from 4/1 to 10/1 and faded late on, finishing 5th, around a length and a half away from getting us an E/W payout. It wasn't a bad run from a 10/1 shot in that race, but I had selected it as a 4/1 runner and thus expected better.

Just like I'm hoping for better today starting with the...

4.10 Wetherby

Where Allanard is as long as 8/1 (Stan James), but generally available at 15/2. This one is a pretty reliable sort, assuming he completes the race! He has failed to complete four of his last 18 contests (BD, F, UR, PU) since January 2011, but hasn't been outside of the first four home in the fourteen completed races. He is happy on a variety of ground conditions and is very adaptable to race lengths. he's also 1331 here at Wetherby win a win and a third place over C&D from two starts.

So, if he completes the race, I'm expecting us to get a crack at the...

8.00 Kempton

Where our hopes rest on Black Truffle, who comes here in good form with results of 33341 this year winning nicely last time out at Lingfield, where he had today's favourite Actonetaketwo behind him in third place. He wore a visor for the first time that day and if it has the same effect here, this is a solid selection at 11/2 with Stan James.

The win double pays 57.5/1 with Stan James, and is best odds guaranteed. The place double pays just under 9/2 today, 4.46/1 to be exact!

Back Allanard and Black Truffle in an each way double with bet365 with the win part paying 34/1 (Best Odds Guaranteed)

Hi Chris – Good choice with Black Truffle. Know the part owner – last run on all weather this season, think it could be a good one, if jockeys holds BT up long enough. Mark Usher is a shrewd trainer, deserves success.

Bit of a bad day all round yesterday Chris, with my two selections also just failing to make the frame. Onwards and upwards I’ve picked two to go with yours in a yankee (I had already selected Allanard, so I’ve changed for something else).
My two are Soweto Star in the 4.00 Lingfield and Shaker Style in the 5.10 Wetherby.
Lets hope for a better day.
    All the best
