Daily Stat Pack

I hope you are enjoying a restful holiday period and that you ready to back some winners over the course of the extended weekend.

I thought I would take this opportunity to bring you the very latest form figures form selected trainers on Boxing Day. We start with trainers who saddled more than one winner, one name with a 100% ratio, ending with disappointing figures from leading names given the returned prices.

3/4--Oliver Sherwood (40/1 treble)
3/10--Willie Mullins (Ireland--18/1 treble)
3/11--Gordon Elliott (Ireland--272/1 treble)
2/3--Pat Fahy (Ireland--26/1)
2/4--Stuart Crawford (Ireland--16/1 double)
2/5--Lucinda Russell (57/1 double)
2/5--Martin Keighley (41/1 double)
2/5--Charlie Longsdon (33/1 double)
2/5--Paul Nolan (Ireland--26/1 double)
2/6--Nigel Twiston-Davies (37/1)
2/10--Donald McCain (28/1 double)
1/1--Nick Williams (12/1)
0/9--Tim Vaughan
0/6--Brian Ellison
0/6--Colin Tizzard
0/5--Jonjo O’Neill
1/10--Paul Nicholls
1/9--Sue Smith
1/6--Philip Hobbs
1/6--Nicky Henderson
1/5--David Pipe

On the A/W front, punters are guilty of shooting themselves in the foot at times.

Take the last two races at Wolverhampton on Boxing Day for example. Mick Easterby’s runner was made 9/4 joint favourite in the penultimate race on the card, despite the fact that Mick’s record at the track during this ‘new season’ currently stands at 1/23.

Punters then made a Phil McEntee raider their 3/1 (beaten) favourite in the finale, with Phil ‘boasting’ 1/17 statistics at Dunstall Park. For the record, the winning trainer’s in the two races now offer relevant ratios of 2/2 (Don Cantillon) & 3/11 (Ollie Pears).

Just in case the weather causes havoc this weekend. I am listing A/W statistics as they stood on Christmas day which I hope will be of interest.

3--David Pipe (7/4-9/4-10/3**)

1.00: Alan King has won with this race with two of his last four representatives and it’s worth noting that Alan held two options the other side of Christmas. Alan has offered the green light to Memberof who was a 4/6 casualty at Aintree two months ago. Paul Nicholls has secured three of the last six winners, whilst the trainer hopes to land a hat trick in the race via Vicenzo Mio. Eight of the last ten favourites have finished in the frame, statistics which include five winners via nine contests. Market leaders come to the gig on a five timer on this occasion.

1.30: Nicky Henderson has saddled five of the seven recent winners of this event and Grandouet has been given the green light on behalf of the yard this time around Five and six-year-olds have (equally) shared six of the seven contests and along with Grandouet, Valdez and course and distance winner Dodging Bullets are relevant vintage representatives.

2.00: Five of the seven winners have carried weights of 10-6 or more which eliminates the bottom two runners if you take the stats seriously. Nicky Henderson has saddled a gold and a silver medallist via just five runners in the race to date whereby his two declarations at the five day stage caught the eye. Nicky has opted for Utopie Des Bordes this time around. Three of the last seven favourites have scored.

2.30: Six-year-olds have won three of the last five renewals though there are no vintage representatives on this occasion. That said, Sprinter Sacre and Sire De Grugy are set to lock horns here in what should prove to be an absorbing contest, though at level weights, Sprinter Sacre has to be the call despite giving recent race fitness away to Gary Moore’s progressive seven year-old. Five of the six favourites have won, whilst the ill-fated Twist Magic finished down the field five years ago behind a 16/1 winner when returned as market leader.

3.05: Eight of the last nine winners have carried weights of 10-13. Only two of the 10 favourites have finished in the frame during the study period, stats which include just one successful (joint) market leader.

3.40: Five-year-olds lead the four-year-olds 3-2 via just the six renewals thus far, whilst Nicky Henderson has secured three contests to date. Nicky has declared five-year-old Snake Eyes on this occasion, with the pick of the four-year-olds being Three Kingdoms and Vinrato Valtat. The last four market leaders have been turned over since the first two favourites obliged.
