Two mile novice hurdle event at 12.50: Favourites have won five of the nine contests during the last eleven years, with the biggest priced winner being returned at just 9/2. Five-year-olds lead the four-year-olds 5-3 via recent renewals. Nicky Henderson comes to the Boxing Day party on a hat trick in this opening event have having held five entries at the penultimate stage, Nicky has opted for Vaniteux which is something of a tip in itself.

Two and a half mile handicap novice chase at 1.25: Nicky Henderson has won four of the last five renewals in which the trainer has saddled runners, whereby Ericht will be a popular order. Four of the last four renewals have been secured by favourites of one description or another. Five-year-olds come to the gig on a hat trick on this occasion.

Class 1 ‘Feltham Novices Chase’ at 2.00: Six-year-olds have won six of the last nine renewals, whilst favourites have secured seven victories during the same period. Market leaders come to the party on a five timer and with six-year-old Just A Par in the mix, the positive trends look ominous for the opposition, especially as Paul Nicholls trains the Island House gelding with Kauto Star’s name having been added to the title of this good event.

‘Christmas Hurdle’ at 2.35: Favourites have won five contests during the last eleven years. Nine ‘recent’ winners scored at odds of 9/2 or less, whilst all ten gold medallists during the last decade scored at a top price of 10/1. Nicky Henderson has won the last three contests whereby My Tent Or Yours is a realistic opponent for the New One to take on.

‘King George’ at 3.10: The last nine winners have been sent off at odds of 9/2 or less, statistics which include seven successful market leaders. Paul Nicholls has secured five of the last seven renewals and though many will side with Silviniaco Conti from the Ditcheat based stable, I prefer the potential talent of stable companion Al Ferof to land the spoils this year. Cue Card finally received the acclaim he has long since deserved at Haydock, though supporters could have done without Colin Tizzard suggesting there was a problem with some of the inmates back at the ranch last week.

Two mile five furlong handicap hurdle at 3.45: Nicky Henderson (Master Of The Game) has saddled four of the last eleven winners. Five of the gold medallists were returned at odds ranging between 8/1 and 25/1 during the period, whilst three successful favourites were registered.
