Double Dutch, 10th September 2014

One from two yesterday represented a better effort than Monday, but I'm still not quite on top form here.

Race 1 went brilliantly for us, Ajjaadd (adv 9/2) was eventually sent off at 7/2 and beat our other selection Green Door by a length and a quarter, netting us a bonus of an Exacta at 13.8/1.

Unfortunately our joy was shortlived, as race 2 was just 5 minutes later and our two 15/8 jt favs both weakened in the closing stages of their 3m chase, coming home 3rd and 4th in a 5-runner contest, beaten by near enough 11 and 15 lengths respectively.

Back to the drawing board!

Tuesday's results were as follows:

Ajjaadd : won at 7/2 (adv 9/2)
Shadow Rock: 2nd at 9/4 (adv 9/4)
------------------------------------------
Peachey Moment: u/p at 15/8 (adv 7/4)
Oh Right: u/p at 15/8 (adv 7/4)

Results to date:
344 winning selections from 1207 = 28.50%
112 winning bets in 315 days = 35.56%

Stakes: 629.50pts
Returns: 691.23pts

P/L : +61.73pts (+9.81% ROI)

REMINDER: THERE IS NO DOUBLE DUTCH ON SUNDAYS

Time is against me this morning, so I'll crack on with Wednesday's selections...

2.20 Carlisle:

Dream Approval won over this trip at Brighton to land her first victory and after two runs over 7f where she ran well but weakened late on, she dropped back to 6f last time out. She was only pipped at the post that day (beaten by a head) and runs off the same 68 mark today. That race nine days ago looked more competitive than this one and she can go one better here at 9/4 BOG.

I don't see much separating Maid In Rome and Intruder in the battle for the places and maybe we'll see all three, I've mentioned, in the frame for this one. Maid In Rome steps up in trip for her handicap debut and hasn't run for over eight weeks, tipping the favour towards Intruder who drops down in class after finishing second last time out. He was doing all his best work in the closing stages of that 5f handicap, shaping as though today's 6f would suit him better. You can get 11/4 BOG about this one.

9.15 Kempton:

James Fanshawe's horses go really well here at Kempton and he has revitalised the fortunes of Celestial Knight recently by simply fitting a visor. Finishes of 376 in three Class 5 maidens followed by coming 10th of 12 on his handicap debut dropped down to Class 6 suggested his career might well be shortlived. Then the visor was fitted and he was switched to the A/W for a handicap over tonight's course and distance and he was only beaten by a short head. he was 2nd again next/last time out, this time at Lingfield on the A/W over the same trip.

He stayed on well that day to get within a length and a quarter of a more experienced filly despite encountering traffic problems on the way. His yard is in good form at present and he can close the evening with a win at 85/40 (BetVictor)

The one I fancy to launch the biggest challenge at a decent price is Bennelong, a 4-time course winner and a 3-time course and distance winner. He has won four times already this season. He's obviously well exposed at the age of 8 having ran 77 races prior to today, but always gives his all. he was a course and distance winner on hos last visit to Kempton three starts ago and has gone well in defeat up in trip on turf since then.

Richard Hughes is an interesting choice of jockey tonight, he has never ridden Bennelong before, despite the horse having ran so often and he usually has a claimer on board. Perhaps tonight could be a return to winning ways at 13/2 BOG.

4 x 0.5pt E/W doubles as follows:

Dream Approval / Celestial Knight @ 9.16/1 (9/4 & 85/40 : BetVictor)
Dream Approval / Bennelong @ 23.38/1 (9/4 & 13/2 : BetVictor)
Intruder / Celestial Knight @ 10.72/1 (11/4 & 85/40 : BetVictor)
Intruder / Bennelong @ 27.13/1 (11/4 & 13/2 : BetVictor & Hills)
