Double Dutch

Double Dutch, 1st September 2014

It was nice to end August with a winning double and, with a non-runner in the first leg, we also scored a bonus win single! Even after the Rule 4, our 11/10 on eventual 4/7 scorer Mr Rock looked good. Satanic Beat was very well supported, into 11/8, as well making for a good day at the DD office.

Saturday's results were as follows:

Mr Rock: won at 4/7 (adv 11/10, R4 25p)
Thunder Zone: NR
------------------------------------------
Satanic Beat: won at 11/8 (adv 15/8)
Chesterfield: 2nd at 11/8 (adv Evs)

Results to date:
337 winning selections from 1177 = 28.63%
111 winning bets in 307 days = 36.16%

Stakes: 614.00pts
Returns: 685.84pts

P/L : +71.84pts (+11.7% ROI)

REMINDER: THERE IS NO DOUBLE DUTCH ON SUNDAYS

6.15 Roscommon:

Shallow uncompetitive races are what we like for Double Dutch, and there are two at Roscommon that seem to fit the bill. The first is a fillies' maiden where the form and the betting speak in favour of two against the rest.

Favourite is Akiliyna (2/1 BOG), an unraced Aga Khan filly trained by Dermot Weld. She's been well supported and clearly is expected to know her job. Against her, Diylawa (9/4 BOG) is another Aga Khan filly with the joint best official rating, and a lot more scope to better that mark than the other joint holder, Ode To Psyche.

Akiliyna is bred for this mile and a half trip on the dam side - out of a Sadler's Wells mare; and Diylawa steps up to the trip from ten furlongs. She's related to Dirar, a winner over a mile and six, and her dam also won over that trip.

7.45 Roscommon:

We'll hopefully be staying up 'late' to round out a double in the last at Roscommon, a bumper. Willie Mullins give son Paddy the ride on the unraced Captain Carol (11/8 BOG), a half sister to two NH winners. Mullins' record at Roscommon is excellent - 16 winners from 52 runners since 2009 - and this one has seen bits of support already for a stable with an overall 46% strike rate in bumpers.

The established form is provided by Tony Martin's Fill Your Hands (5/2 BOG), for whom he's employed the services of Nina Carberry. He's had a few tries has this lad, but brings comfortably the pick of the bumper form to the party. Indeed, he's been beaten less than four lengths in each of his last three efforts, and gets the Nina treatment for the first time tonight. If the Mullins horse is any good, it should win. But if it isn't Fill Your Hands looks the most likely beneficiary.

4 x 0.5pt E/W doubles as follows:

Akiliyna / Captain Carol @ 6.14/1 (2/1 & 11/8 : PP)
Akiliyna / Fill Your Hands @ 8.63/1 (7/4 & 5/2 : Coral)
Diylawa / Captain Carol @ 6.73/1 (9/4 & 11/8 : SJ)
Diylawa / Fill Your Hands @ 10.38/1 (9/4 & 5/2 : Boylesports)
