Double Dutch

Double Dutch, 25th January 2016

Saturday went the same way as Friday, as we came up a little short with a winner and a runner-up, but there was no hard luck story as, Ut Majeur Aulmes was beaten by six lengths on the run-in, despite getting 8lbs and 3 years from the eventual 11/1 winner at Taunton.

All of which meant that Anglohile's earlier (expected) win at Lingfield didn't really count for much, bar my own personal pride

Saturday's results were as follows:

Anglophile : WON at 2/1 (adv 5/2)
Pinzolo : 3rd at 13/8 (adv 15/8)
----------------------------------------------------
Ut Majeur Aulmes : 2nd at 13/8 (adv 15/8)
Cash And Go : fell at 9/4 (adv 11/4)

Results to date:
787 winning selections from 2828 = 27.83%
244 winning bets in 732 days = 33.33%

Stakes: 1463.00pts
Returns: 1540.40pts

Today's Selections...

4.30 Wolverhampton

Of those with previous experience, Milrow looks to be the standard bearer here and was only beaten by less than a length last time out, having been caught and passed very late on at Lingfield last Friday. This looks a marginally weaker contest and over a slightly shorter trip, a similar effort should really be enough to land this at 15/8 BOG, as his main rivals are all stepping up in trip today and are therefore, unproven at the distance.

As an alternate, I was torn between Zeehan and Jive Time, but at the risk of invoking Sod's Law, I'm going for the former. I think Jive Time will win races, but might need a little more time, whilst Zeehan ran well last time out. Clive Cox has a good record here at this track and Zeehan has already shown some apitutde for the surface, albeit on debut over an inadequtely short trip. Breeding suggests she'll be happier at this distance and her 5lb allowance might just tip things her way at 5/1 BOG.

5.00 Wolverhampton

Both career wins for Robins Pearl so far have come from her two runs at 9/9.5f and on her two visits to this track, she has scored a course and distance win and a runner-up slot when 8.5f wasn't quite long enough, although she stayed on well enough. She didn't seem at her best last time out, when 5th of 12 at Kempton almost three weeks ago, but was a stronger contest than this over a longer trip. A drop back in both class and trip on her return to the Tapeta shoud be enough to see her home today at 5/2 BOG.

Her main danger is expected to be Hernando Torres (4/1 BOG), another former course and distance winner who ran well in defeat last time out, finishing third over a longer trip at Chelmsford, but now returns to a venue where has won twice before at a more Suitable trip. He gets on well with his jockey and seems to save his best efforts for December/January.

4 x 0.5pt BOG doubles as follows...

Zeehan / Robins Pearl @ 20/1 (5/1 & 5/2 : Betfred, Racebets, SkyBet & Totesport)
