The prices were admittedly a little skinny yesterday, but getting the 1-2 home in both races meant it was a fourth consecutively successful day for followers of this column.

A 13/8 winner followed by a 3.02 forecast produced a 6.93/1 double in the end and if I'd had the courage of my initial convictions and done the forecast double, that would have paid an excellent 13.92/1.

Nevertheless, another profit of 1.96pts on the day keeps us going in the right direction.

Yesterday's results were as follows:

Smashing: won at 13/8
Carriganog: 2nd at 2/1 adv (SP 6/4)
(The forecast paid 4.94)
---------------------------------
My Tent Or Yours: won at 11/8
The New One: 2nd at 5/6
The advised 2.44 forecast paid out at 3.02

Results to date:
97 winning selections from 336 = 28.87%
30 winning doubles in 91 days = 32.97%

Stakes: 180.00pts
Returns: 190.55pts

And so onto Friday:

12.35 Leicester:

Christopher Wren is a three-times course winner and prevailed over course and distance last time out to land his second win from three attempts this winter campaign. He had Drumlang some 10 lengths behind him last time out, but the latter still franked the form by winning next time out. Christopher Wren is up 8lbs for the latest effort, but that might not be enough to stop him and he looks potentially well priced at 5/2 BOG.

The main danger to the selection has to be the consistent Baile Anrai, representing the in-form Skelton team. This one has been running well in much better company than this and if the drop in trip doesn't inconvenience him too much, he could be a good bet at 5/2 BOG on a track where he's 1 from 1.

2.15 Wetherby:

King of the Wolds will probably be well fancied here and for good reason. He's in good nick at present and seeks to secure a hat trick to further improve his very consistent record. In 11 starts to date, he has won 4 times and has landed 5 further top 3 finishes, so he is generally around when the prizes are dished out. I expect him to around at the finish again today and 11/4 BOG (Betfred) about a heavy-ground C&D winner looks quite fair, despite his 2lb rise.

However, I have a slight preference for Majala, who is 3211162 in the last two years and has been running in far better company than he'll be keeping today. He was by no means disgraced in defeat last time out, going down to Sire de Grugy at Chepstow two months ago, where he had some decent horses behind him that day. The winner has, of course, gone on to win again, but so has Rebel Rebellion who was a good 20 lengths behind Majala at Chepstow. 5/2 BOG looks pretty attractive about this one.

4 x 0.5pt BOG doubles as follows:
Christopher Wren / King of the Wolds @ 10.38/1 (BetVictor, Stan James 5/2 & 9/4)
Christopher Wren / Majala @ 10.38/1 (BetVictor, Stan James 5/2 & 9/4)
Baile Anrai / Majala @ 11.25/1 (SkyBet, Coral 5/2 & 5/2)
Baile Anrai / King of the Wolds @ 12.13/1 (Betfred 5/2 & 11/4)
