Double Dutch, 28th June 2014

A nice 19/1 double yesterday, as Words drifted to 3/1 from 11/4 before powering away from her field, and Disavow - an early 4/1 shot - won at a measly 13/8! Saturday is tricky as ever, but for my last day in the chair for now, I'm hoping to keep the momentum rolling...

Friday's results were as follows:

Words: won at 3/1 (adv11/4)
Curlylocks: 3rd at 9/4 (adv 5/2)
---------------------------------
Disavow: won at 13/8 (adv 4/1)
Super Quick: 5th at 7/4 (adv 6/5)

Results to date:
271 winning selections from 969 = 27.97%
86 winning bets in 253 days = 33.99%

Stakes: 506.00pts
Returns: 545.00pts

P/L : +39.00pts (+7.71% ROI)

Another maiden where the top of the market has been supported to the virtual exclusion of anything else and, in a race where only one horse has run (not good enough to get involved here), the market clues are the best we have.

The cash for Charlie Appleby's Zephuros is hardly surprising. After all, the trainer has a 25% win strike rate and an almost 50% place rate at Newmarket in the last year, for a 25.26 unit profit. This chap will know his job, and being bred for middle distances (by Invincible Spirit out of a Machiavellian mare), the seven here today should be fine.

Richard Hannon's Holland Park is the big market buzzer though, and looks like going off favourite. He was an expensive purchase (£150,000) and is a US-bred so should appreciate the likely fast ground.

2.40 Newcastle:

Leg two, if things still concern us will be the Chipchase Stakes, a six furlong Group 3. The fast ground will suit Saayerr, who maybe didn't quite get home over seven on his seasonal bow. He won a Group 2 last year over six, and should be spot on for this second start of 2014.

Danzeno had looked progressive before a slightly disappointing 9th of 20 at York last time. He missed the break there, and may get away with such tardy tactic in this smaller field. Still, it's be preferred that he breaks on terms and, if doing so, can go close.

4 x 0.5pt BOG doubles, as follows:
Holland Park / Saayerr @ 9.71/1 (11/8 & 7/2 : totesport)

Holland Park / Danzeno @ 8.52/1 (11/8 & 3/1 : PP)
Zephuros / Saayerr @ 14.75/1 (5/2 & 7/2 : Betfred)
Zephuros / Danzeno @ 15/1 (3/1 & 3/1 : PP)
