Double Dutch

Double Dutch, 30th January 2015

Although I managed to make a few pounds out of two decent priced E/W placers at 7/1 & 9/1 yesterday, it was a 2pt loss for DD.

We actually missed out on a nice 23/1 double on the nod, as Khajaaly just failed to overhaul the surprise 11/1 winner and officially went down by a head. I think a stride either side of the line would have seen us collecting again, but these are the fine margins we deal in.

Poppy Bond didn't run badly, but never really got involved going down by 3 lengths back in fourth place.

Then, later at Wolverhampton, Rich Again extended his amazing run of form on the tapeta to 131111, but he didn't hit the front until very late in the piece, eventually prevailing by just three parts of a length with Invincible Ridge another half length back in third place.

Thursday's results were as follows:

Khajaaly : 2nd at 5/1 (adv 7/1)
Poppy Bond : 4th at 4/1(adv 7/2)
------------------------------------------
Rich Again : WON at 6/4 (adv 9/2)
Invincible Ridge : 3rd at 8/1 (adv 9/1)

Results to date:
474 winning selections from 1659 = 28.57%
147 winning bets in 430 days = 34.19%

Stakes: 859.50pts
Returns: 951.63pts

P/L : +92.13pts (+10.72% ROI)

REMINDER: THERE IS NO DOUBLE DUTCH ON SUNDAYS

Friday nights are A/W nights either side of the Irish Sea, of course...

5.15 Wolverhampton:

Monsieur Chevalier appears to be both the class act and the form horse here and he meets most of his rivals on far better terms in this claimer than he would were it a handicap. He's 113 since a switch to Jamie Osborne's yards with today's jockey Adam Kirby grabbing a 2/2 record from those runs with the first of those wins coming here at Wolverhampton in November.

Monsieur Chevalier currently trades at a best price of 2/1 BOG and I'd expect him to off as favourite, but 8 of his 10 career wins have been as favourite (8/10 as fav too!), so the market is usually a pretty good indicator of his chances and when sent off at 6/1 or shorter, he has won 10 of 17 (58.8% SR) races for level stakes profits of 15.5pts (+91.1% ROI).

Hanalei Bay is currently a 3/1 BOG chance here and must rank as the biggest danger to the favourite here today. He's a former ourse and distance winner and is trained by Keith Dalgleish who has an excellent record here at this track.  He's actually even better off at the weights that the first selection, rated 4lbs worse , but receiving 5lbs and that could make for a tight finish.

It's not unfair to say that he hasn't shown much if five defeats since his last win, although he did finish a decent second at Ayr in a race that hasn't really produced much form. I should however point out that his win six starts ago was a class 5 contest, where his record reads 11311 in his last five starts and he now drops back down in class after running in Class 3 & 4 races. Philip Makin is 3/9 on Hanalei Bay and they could be the party poopers.

6.05 Dundalk:

The beauty of the Double Dutch is two bites of the one cherry and this is particularly useful when the Instant Expert tab on our interactive racecards highlight two runners in a line of green that stand out from the pack.

Both Togoville (5/2 BOG) and Indian Landing (100/30 BOG) boast three wins from six runs here at Dundalk, whilst Togoville has a win at Laytown to consider. They have both won three times at Class 5 level, but Indian Landing's 3/5 record beats Togoville's still respectable 3/11. Togoville, however, has the upper hand (3/6 vs 3/10) in these smaller fields races.

The presence of Chillie Billie should ensure a decent pace tonight and this will also suit both our runners more than the rest of the pack and both of them come here on good form. Togoville is 1211 (all here at Dundalk) since a switch to trainer Georgios Pakidis, whilst Indian Landing has a record of 131321 here.

There'll not be much between them, but I don't care as long as one of them wins! Although, I'd prefer the loser to finish 2nd. 😀

4 x 0.5pt BOG doubles as follows:

Monsieur Chevalier / Togoville @ 9.50/1 (2/1 & 5/2 : Bet365 & SkyBet)
Monsieur Chevalier / Indian Landing @ 12/1 (2/1 & 10/3 : Paddy Power & SkyBet)
Hanalei Bay / Togoville @ 13/1 (3/1 & 5/2 : Coral)
Hanalei Bay / Indian Landing @ 16.33/1 (3/1 & 10/3 : Coral)
