Double Dutch, 4th February 2015

Things have been going pretty well for us on DD of late, but Tuesday's races won't live long in the memory, as a pair of runners-up, beaten by 2.5L & 7L respectively, were the best we could muster with our other two runners failing to even make the frame.

I really liked Barbs Princess in race 2, but she had a bit of a stinker, I'm afraid.

Tuesday's results were as follows:

Childesplay : 2nd at 4/1 (adv 3/1)
Habeshia : 4th at 11/4 (adv 5/2)
------------------------------------------
Viva Verglas : 2nd at 11/4 (adv 10/3)
Barbs Princess : 8th at 7/2 (adv 5/2)

Results to date:

477 winning selections from 1675 = 28.48%
148 winning bets in 434 days = 34.10%

Stakes: 867.50pts
Returns: 958.38pts

P/L : +90.88pts (+10.48% ROI)

REMINDER: THERE IS NO DOUBLE DUTCH ON SUNDAYS

And just like Tuesday, it's just mediocre A/W fayre again today...

2.05 Kempton:

But for the wide draw, I'd really like Studfarmer here today and whilst I'm not as keen on him as I would have been, I still think he's got a good chance at a decent price (5/1 BOG). In his defence, he won here last time out over 6f from stall 8, so he was hardly well positioned that day either. He generally gets out quickly and with Two Turtle Doves also possessing a quick start from 2 stalls further in, he should get the early pace he requires.

His wins over 6f mean he shouldn't run out of steam in the finish and I expect him and TTD to make a good battle of it and they're allowed to dictate affairs as they like to, then there's no reason why we can't get a 1-2 finish here. For her part, Two Turtle Doves looks to be on the way back to some form after losing her way over the last 6 months since she last won at Goodwood over 5 furlongs off a mark of 60.

She now races off just 49, the same mark as her last effort when 3rd at Wolverhampton over 6f nine days ago. She was only beaten by a length that day and was only headed inside the final furlong, despite her 3lb claimer rider having already dropped her whip. The more experienced Tom Eaves takes the ride today and this booking allied to the drop back to 5f could be the necessary changes needed for a return to winning ways at 6/1 BOG.

4.40 Chelmsford City:

Oratorio's Joy has been unlucky enough to lose by just a neck in each of her last two runs, the most recent of which was over today's course and distance a fortnight ago when a distinct lack of pace in the race was her undoing. The unique Geegeez pace analysis suggests there's much more early pace on offer today and that should set things up nicely for her to take this one at 9/4 BOG with Coral.

The one she'll need to beat, however, is the 3/1 BOG Asia Minor, a four-times winner over 12f and who has a3/4 record under today's jockey Martin Lane. She was only beaten by a length last time out with clear daylight between her and her other 6 rivals, including the re-opposing The Blue Dog who was 23 lengths further back.

4 x 0.5pt BOG doubles as follows:

Studfarmer / Oratorio's Joy @ 18.50/1 (5/1 & 9/4 : Coral)
Studfarmer / Asia Minor @ 23/1 (5/1 & 3/1 : BetVictor & Stan James)
Two Turtle Doves / Oratorio's Joy @ 21.75/1 (6/1 & 9/4 : Coral)
Two Turtle Doves / Asia Minor @ 27/1 (6/1 & 3/1 : BetVictor & Stan James)
