Double Dutch

Double Dutch, 5th May 2014

Saturday's selections started dreadfully, as my two 7/2 shots were the last two home, 10.5 and 28.5 lengths adrift respectively. I got my runners in the correct order but, trust me, I drew absolutely no consolation from that.

Things improved slightly in the second contest for me, where Chavoy was 3rd and I'd had an E/W saver on him at 8/1. That, of course, means nothing in the context of the double and our miserable day was capped off by the favourite Danners falling at just the second fence.

Saturday's results were as follows:

Roachdale House:  u/p at 2/1 (adv 7/2)
Scrutiny: u/p at 5/1 (adv 7/2)
---------------------------------
Chavoy: u/p at 7/1 (adv 8/1)
Danners: fell at 5/2 (adv 11/4)

Results to date:
226 winning selections from 788 = 28.68%
74 winning bets in 207 days = 35.75%

Stakes: 410.00pts
Returns: 475.44pts

P/L : +65.44pts (+15.96% ROI)

REMINDER: THERE IS NO DOUBLE DUTCH ON SUNDAYS

I hope to kick the new week off in better form than I ended the last with these from today's cards...

3.50 Beverley:

Your first 30 days for just £1

Toto Skyllachy has won four of his eight starts here at Beverley, all over today's trip on two of the wins were on today's projected good to firm going. He has won the last two renewals of this contest and he runs here off the same 85 mark as last year and is some 6lbs lower than his last winning mark.

He ran a decent third on hos seasonal reappearance at Musselburgh 17 days ago in a higher grade than this and looks set to give another bold show at 3/1 BOG.

My second pick for this contest is Dubai Dynamo, who looks to have some value at this current 5/1 BOG odds. He comes here running off 80, 8lbs lower than his last win and represents a yard in form: Ruth Carr has 5 winners and 5 placers from 17 in the last week. He was unlucky in defeat at Ayr just over a week ago and will benefit from a contest with more apparent pace, as generally befits the offspring of Kyllachy here at Beverley.

4.35 Kempton:

Pepite Rose is turned out quickly after a decent run at Sandown just nine days ago, where she finished 2nd behind Sire de Grugy, some three lengths off the pace and far from disgraced. Her previous outing to that effort was also a grade 1 contest at Aintree, won by Boston Bob and the drop back to Class 2 handicap company should suit her here today.

She has won of her last races at this level and if she runs like her last two outings, then she'll be very difficult to beat. Her jumping is generally sound (just one fall to date) and her win record of 8/27 is excellent. I fancy her to take this one at a big price of 6/1 BOG.

Of her rivals, it comes down to the favourite Claret Cloak and Turn Over Sivola with a preference for the latter.

He may not have won a chase just yet, but he's already looking far better in this sphere than he was as a hurdler. He has been ultra consistent over fences, making the frame in each of his six starts to date (222322) and was only beaten by a length and a half at Aintree last time out, where todays favourite Claret Cloak was the same distance further back.

There probably won't be much between them again today, but I prefer Turn Over Sivola, who is a 3/1 BOG chance to land that chase victory which is surely on the way.

4 x 0.5pt BOG doubles, as follows:
Toto Skyllachy / Turn Over Sivola @ 14/1 (11/4 & 3/1 : Hills)
Toto Skyllachy / Pepite Rose @ 25.25/1 (11/4 & 6/1 : generally)
Dubai Dynamo / Turn Over Sivola @ 23/1 (5/1 & 3/1 : BetVictor & Hills)
Dubai Dynamo / Pepite Rose @ 41/1 (5/1 & 6/1 : generally)
