Geegeez Is Three: Happy Birthday to Geegeez

Happy Birthday Geegeez: Three Today

Happy Birthday Geegeez: Three Today

After a less than fun morning traipsing through code and files trying to find the underlying problem causing to show virus warnings, and having resolved that unfortunate pickle, I'm now pleased to report that all is well again, and that we can blow out the candles and cut the cake to celebrate the third birthday of geegeez!

Yes, three years to the day ago, I registered the domain, installed the blog infrastructure, and started scribbling about horse racing and betting systems.

Since then, the site has been a content hub for those of us interested in UK horse racing (predominantly) and betting. Here are a few facts and figures that you didn't know you didn't want to know! 😉

- 26 different authors have contributed, be they writing news, betting articles, system trials or long form editorial (that would be me!)

- There have been 1,657 individual posts to date, with a total word count of 1,132,544. That's roughly eleven 250-page books! (Or one 2,750 page tome)

- Each post has averaged 683 words, and we've published on average 47.3 posts per month.

My thanks go to all of the writers and contributors who have helped to make grow in the way it has. And my special and sincere gratitude goes to all of you readers, many of whom over time have read most of those eleven books' worth of content on here.

It might sound trite, but it's absolutely the case that without you, there would simply be no point to geegeez. So, from all of the team here, and especially from me, THANK YOU for your support.

I know there are any number of websites out there that do some of what geegeez tries to do, and I truly appreciate your loyalty in coming here for your racing 'fix'.

Here's to the next three years!

p.s. as it's Wednesday and the Wednesday prior to Premier League kick-off Saturday, allow me to point you at two posts of interest today:

Tried to do the fanatasy football but when I had registered, picked my team etc etc there was no place to put your promo code?? I’m probably in with the mainstream punters on the site?

    Happy birthday

      Hi Iain

When you’re on the fantasy footy site, click the ‘Leagues’ tab (fourth in at the top), then there should be a ‘+’ button that says ‘Join a League’ next to it.
Select ‘Private League’, then enter the code: 1344017-300774

You should then be registered. Any problems, let me know and I’ll take a look.

    Dear Matt,

Sorry about the gremlins this morning, But Let me congratulate you from a sunny wintery South Africa and wish GEEGEEZ a happy 3rd birthday. It is indeed awesome that this baby of yours is growing up so quickly. GEEGEEZ is truly awesome, it has indeed helped me with finding winners in the past and I’m sure will be in the forefront of my toolcase of arsenals that will be employed for future flat racing seasons.

I myself am considering a Racing UK blog initially to be intended for South African consumption, and I have learned alot from GEEGEEZ.

    Kudos Matt

    Happy Birthday Geegeez!!

Followed you from day one Matt (and before in your previous Blog life!). Thanks for helping to keep the virtual betting streets clean of the many rogues and scoundrels who are all too keen to part us from our hard earned and give us nothing in return. And I’m not just referring to the bookies!

All that plus some cracking angles into races, free tips, sound advice, systems….with this entire package of goodies contained within the somewhat flabby but likeable shape of a genuinely decent human being!

Talk about setting me up for a fall, Craig! 😉

Actually, you’re right. I have put on a few pounds. Perhaps I’ll not dial out for pizza tonight…. then again…!

p.s. thanks for the good wishes, and for sticking around for a very long time. 🙂

I’ve been with you since day 1 and continue to enjoy your insight and comments.
More recently I have enjoyed and used your ‘Hot Trainers’ advice and have selected several winners from them.Cheers [raising glass of real ale] congratulations and may you continue for many more triplets.
    Kindest regards Rod.

      Thanks Rod.

One of the joys of this, even in such a ‘virtual’ environment, is that I get to know a little about a fair few of my readers, clients, subscribers. And it’s surprising how many I recognize instantly from their email address. Naturally, you’re one of them, as I think you bought the very first TTS way back in 2006.

I’m gratified that you’ve been around so long.

Congrats on your third birthday for geegeez.

Your commitment, openness and honesty is really great and I especially appreciate the effort that has gone into the geegeez racing club.

I know there are lots of people who have enjoyed the success of Khajaaly this season and look forward to more next season.

Great run on Monday – hope to see you at the next outing.

    best wishes

Thanks Jim – that’s very kind. And, like I’ve said, I’ve met some great people as a result. And yourself of course… 😉

p.s. I trust the grandchildren are wee darlings and that news of looting back home hasn’t been too troubling.

    Congratulations, Matt

I read somewhere (and have the feeling that this is a true number as, as well as the day job at I also run a blog review service for expats in France and have a pretty close view of success/failure rates) that 90% of blogs don’t go past 15 months.

To have reached the 3 year stage is very impressive!

May the next 3 years be equally as rewarding and fun!

I think that what makes your blog/site a winner is the casual ( but authoritative) tone that comes across when you are (to use your own words), “scribbling about horse racing and betting systems.”

That’s rare and something to be treasured and preserved.

    My kindest regards

    Keith Eckstein

    • Matt Bisogno
      Matt Bisogno says:

Thank you Keith – yes, casual but authoritative. Or passive aggressive! 😉

You’re right about blog failure rate though, so the fact that nag3 (my old home, now Gavin’s plush pad) was around for two years prior to that means I’ve celebrated five years online this month. It’s been an absolute joy.

    Hi Matt
had problems getting on the site yesterday am glad it sorted. Love the site and go in everyday to see what is happening and have backed a good few winners through the advice given therein.
I have a favour ot ask, my real interest is 2yo racing and I use a site called B2yoR a lot, it suddenly stopped updating in June, does anyone on the site or uses the site have any idea what has happened to this web site.

    • Matt Bisogno
      Matt Bisogno says:

      Hi Ted

I’d never heard of that site, so took a look on your mention. Looks good. It’s run by someone called Nicholas (or Nick) Shield, by the looks of things, but after that I’m afraid I can’t help.

Does anyone else know anything about B2yoR?
