Goodwood really was glorious for Richard Hughes as he topped off the week with nine victories, a record for the meeting, beating the previous record of eight winners which Lester Piggott, Kieren Fallon and Johnny Murtagh all share.
The stable jockey for Richard Hannon, picked up the leading rider trophy, sponsored by Racing UK, after his mount Eucharist won the Play Poker At Gcasino.com Nursery.
Achieving all nine victories on Hannon-trained horses, possibly his best ride was atop Canford Cliffs in the Sussex Stakes last Wednesday .
Hughes said, "It has been a fabulous week and things have just gone from strength to strength.
"There was a lot of pressure before the Canford Cliffs ride, but after that I had done my job and could enjoy the rest of Goodwood.
"When you are enjoying your rides there is nothing better.
"It is unbelievable and it is all thanks to the lads in the Hannon yard who make this possible for me.
"Someone said it has been the Richard Hughes week - I like the sound of that!
"It has been a pleasure and Goodwood has been absolutely fantastic."
Hannon commented, "He's different gear isn't he? He gets them balanced and they run for him.
"We have had good weeks at Royal Ascot, the July meeting and now here.
"We have got plenty more coming and I have never had a week like this - certainly not at Goodwood."
