Laying Handicap Favourites

Whinging Willie was backed into 4/1 favouritism yesterday
and as such became a live bet. Thankfully, he ran terribly
and duly obliged for us, finishing 12th of 13 runners!

This takes us to a record of 16/21 (76.19%) : +7.82pts (+£156.40)
and today looks a little busier than of late, as we currently
have five potential bets for...

...Day 44 (03/04/13)

2.40 Wetherby: Our Phylli Vera : 5th at 5/2
3.40 Wetherby: Call Back : 7th at 7/1 = NO BET
5.30 Kempton: Conversing : 3rd at 5/2 = NO BET
6.00 Kempton: Polish Crown : 4th at 7/4
8.30 Kempton: Sam Spade : 2nd at 4/5

It turned out to be a very satisfactory day with all five getting beaten
and three of them qualifying as bets, including a warm odds on jolly.

Today: 3/3 : +2.85pts (+ £57.00)
Overall : 19/24 (79.17%) : +10.67pts (+£213.40)

      Hi Rob,
The rules are that the horses have to be favourites priced at 4/1 or under to qualify as bets.
They are my own selections and I haven’t divulged the selection process.

Thanks Chris – at what point have they to be at 4/1 or below – SP? BSP? At the off? Best regards. Rob

      Hi Rob,
I call 4/1 as the cutoff point, as I’m not comfortable laying at higher odds than that. 4/1 refers to SP, but I know you can’t lay at SP.
I place my bets either manually just before the off or via a bot set at a maximum lay of 5.40, if I’m not around for the racing.
5.40 is somewhat of an arbitrary figure, you could set it differently yourself, but I found that it pretty much covers everything I want to lay and doesn’t pick up any stray 9/2 shots trading a little lower on betfair.

      Hope this helps,
