Over To You, #1
In the first of a new and occasional - maybe very occasional if nobody else wants to share what they're doing! - series, we free up the stage for a Geegeez Gold subscriber 'show and tell'. This inaugural episode features Gold user Rob Bayliss talking about how he combines various elements of the service to find value bets.
Before I virtually hand over to Rob, could we showcase your Gold experiences? To appear in this slot on site, you'll need to record a video of between five and twenty minutes duration, with screen capture and clear audio. Free screen capture software (you press a button and it records your screen) is available here. (I use the paid version of this software)
Simply upload your video to the web (Screencast-o-Matic has a button to upload to their cloud servers) and send us a message with the video link and a line on what you do and why.
We can't guarantee to use all videos, but if you have an angle you're happy to share and can produce a short(ish) recording of how/why you do things the way you do, there's a great chance we'll be able to use it. And thanks in advance, really looking forward to seeing how you make Gold work for you!
Right, enough said, over to Rob...
Really interesting, Rob, thanks for sharing.
It’s pretty much how I compose the first half of my daily Racing Insights piece.
Sod’s Law was at play with your bet, sadly and the other two runners you mentioned did at least back up your original theories.
Great video.
A few friends of mine are also members of Geegeez, one thing we all tend to talk about, is how we all receive the information given to us.
This video was a great insight.
Interesting video, given the numerous intricacies of the software there’s much I haven’t picked up on despite having used it for a fairly long time now. One thing I’ve learnt – for which I thank you – is what the figures for subsequent races/winners are when drilling down into the instant expert section. One place you didn’t go though which I expected when you mentioned the time between runs as being significant for you was back to the race card then selecting the trainer for a breakdown of how they perform with runners 60+. You went to the horses form specifically which caused you to rule out a good each way second. Logic was sound but dunno if the trainer form with 60+ days runners may have indicated a different pattern. Another thing I do when there’s a lack of info re how a horse will perform on any going is filter on the sire by category e.g. hurdle/chase, by going and by distance. I’ve picked up a few good outsiders that way where at first glance you might miss an opportunity.
Good video though, always happy when I learn summat new, thanks for sharing 🙂
I found this informative and helpful. Thanks Rob. Your selection did not sparkle but no matter. Our quest is long term profits and this is is the correct way to go about it. As Matt says if you want to win on more races just back the favourite.
Great effort Rob!
Always good to see how others use geegeez and all the tools it supplies.
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for sharing Rob I usually look straight to one box in amatuer riders events and that’s jockey snippets they have to be decent for me to go any further into the form that’s where I would begin.
I think the combination of the jockey still learning the track and most likely still learning the horse is recipe for unreliability and he/she would have to be clearly talented for me to get involved.
