Paddy Power tops June value survey

PPtopsOne of the most popular and important topics we cover here at Geegeez is the subject of value in betting. One aspect Matt often highlights is that of bookmaker offers. A new (to me at least) monthly survey aims to compare bookmaker offers to identify who is giving most value for money to customers.

Freebets, an on-line site that researches and summarises all available offers uses several factors to identify the bookmaker offering the best overall deal to punters. These include the number of money back offers, free bets, cash returns on losers, how many events the offers cover, and which markets on them. Finally, they consider how likely the offer is to be called into play. It’s much more about day-by-day offers rather than sign up deals, though both are included in their evaluation.

Of course, they are not looking just at racing, and last month’s best value bookmaker, Paddy Power, owed their place to the several specials on football’s Confederation Cup amongst the 27 different feature bets. But their offer of the month was the promotion in which punters would have had losing stakes returned if Animal Kingdom had won at Royal Ascot.

The survey covers 18 leading on-line bookmakers, though the site lists offers from twice as many firms. Freebets.com owner David Archer said, “The bookies really pushed some great betting offers in June with some outstanding value for punters in the Confederations Cup and, of course, Royal Ascot, which just gets better every year.”

Paddy Power and BetVictor each had money back promotions across ten different sports, but offers on cricket from Betway brought them into second place in the rankings. I haven’t come across winner.com before, but their racing offers gained them third place in June’s overall value. If that’s where their main focus lies, it will be a firm to look out for.

This was only the second month for which the survey has been carried out, with Ladbrokes taking top place in May. It will be interesting to see whether this new report drives out further offers in the future, and with it even better value for punters.
