Jockey Paul Hanagan has now gone five wins clear from Richard Hughes in the quest for the Jockeys' Championship Title, after picking up a double at Wolverhampton.
The determined progress of Richard Hughes of late had seen him gain ground on Hanagan, who had a lead of only three prior to the eight race fixture at Dunstall Park.
With just five days of the season to go Hanagan will be somewhat relieved now that he has a five win buffer.
There is also the possibility that Hughes will take the ride on Paco Boy in the Breeders' Cup Mile on Saturday at Churchill Downs, in which case he would miss the last day of the season.
"It is a possibility that I might not go to America but I will see how it goes in the next couple of days," said Hughes.
