WORCESTER--SUNDAY 12TH MAY
Last five toteplacepot returns at Worcester:
April 30--£573.00 (two clear favourites secured toteplacepot posiitons)
October 24--£21.70 (five)
October 11--£929.70 (two)
September 11--£43.40 (five)
August 29--£18.50 (five)
Toteplacepot returns for the last five corresponding meetings:
2012--£19.20 (four clear favourites secured toteplacepot posiitons)
2.10: Venetia Williams has her team back in decent form following a lean spell by Venetia's high standards. Three of the yard's last nine runners have won, though the trainer complicates matters to a fashion by declaring three runners and being the decent chap I am, I will leave you to determine the merits of MASSENA, LEGEND ERRY and GENERALISE!
Relevant information: This is a new race on the Worcester card.
2.40: The details of Peter Bowen's latest run of form can be found in the 3.40 trainer stats sector, suffice to say that toteplacepot investors will leave DERWEN PRIDE out of their permutation to their potential peril in this contest. Others for the overnight mix include ORANGER, WALTZING TORNADO and NORMANDY LANDINGS.
Relevant information: This is another new race on the Worcester card. This might be the time to remind potential favourite backers that all nine market leaders at Worcester (two sets of joint market leaders) were beaten in the only meeting staged at the venue in 2013.
3.10: Taking Paul Nicholls (stats of 7/25 during the last fortnight before Saturday's sport was contested), Nicky Henderson (5/33) and Keith Reveley (2/8) out of the equation, the other six trainers 'boast' an aggregate ratio of 5/85 during the same period! The relevant 'in form' trainers saddle WOOLCOMBE FOLLY, DESSLESSTHANME (two raiders for Paul Nicholls), ANQUETTA and KINGS GREY respectively.
Relevant information: This is another new race on the Worcester programme.
3.40: ROLL ON RUBY represents Pater Bowen whose team has returned to form with a vengeance (see stats below) and the five-year-old has to be a threat to her rivals here. The pick of the four-year-olds (vintage representatives have a great record) should prove to be FLYING NATIVE and (possibly) NO NO ROMEO.
Trainer trends: Peter Bowen is back in the first team having saddled four of his last seven runners to winning effect.
Vintage stats: Four-year-olds have won six times via nine renewals during the last decade. Five-year-olds have won the other three contests.
Weight information: Vintage scenarios dominate the weights, rather than any form lines on offer.
Favourite/SP facts: Four contests have slipped by since the last (13/8) favourite obliged. Three market leaders have won during the extended study period during which time, eight winners have scored at odds of 8/1 or less.
4.10: Course and distance winner DRESDEN represents Sarah-Jane Davies who has her team in terrific form (see stats below) and the five-year-old gelding demands inclusion in the overnight mix. Eight-year-olds have run riot of late whereby RED SKIPPER is added to the mix, though it is a little more difficult to make cases for fellow vintage raiders RED JADE and MR PLOD from a win perspective.
Trainer trends: The brilliant results of Sarah-Jayne Davies have generally gone under the raider during the last ten days or so. Sarah-Jayne has saddled four of her last seven runners to winning effect, notwithstanding a silver medallist during the period.
Vintage stats: Eight-year-olds have secured four of the last five contests.
Weight information: Four of the last five winners have been burdened with a minimum weight of 10-11.
Favourite/SP facts: Favourites have failed to win any of the eight renewals which have been contested during the last decade. The eight winners have scored at odds ranging between 6/1 and 33/1 during the study period.
4.40: A poor toteplacepot finale in all honesty and a race which has 'bookmaker's result' written all over it. My tentative trio against the field consists of IRONICAL, CLARION CALL and DOUCHKIRK. The overnight reserve nomination is awarded to hat trick seeker STARLIGHT AIR.
Relevant information: Last year's inaugural 5/2 favourite duly obliged.
Mal's toteplacepot permutation:

2.40: A 2-7-10
3.10: A 4-2
3.40: A 12-7
4.10: A 5-1
4.40: A 2-1-4
