It’s been a case of all or (practically) nothing at Musselburgh at this corresponding fixture from a Placepot perspective in recent times.  The worst three returns pan out at an average dividend of £48.80, whilst the best two produce comparable figures of £3,912.30.

Regular readers of this column over the last few weeks will have picked up on the point that when punters try and secure ‘golden fleece’, they try too hard to weave their way through the Placepot races looking for massive outsiders.

11/18 horses which finished in the frame on March 27th 2009 were returned in single figures, with favourites missing out on Placepot positions being returned at 9/2 -9/2-5/2-5/1.

The average price of the eighteen horses finishing in the Placepot frame that day was 13/2.  Not one race on the Placepot card created havoc by horses in double figures securing every available Placepot position.  At least one horse at 8/1 or less finished in the frame in every race on the Placepot card.
