5 Minute Placepot

Placepot pointers – Monday 21st December

Placepot pointers – Monday 21st December 2015

It should be noted that placed/unplaced records are in line with the ruling of bookmakers, i.e. only one win and one place in races for 5/6/7 runners etc.

Corresponding details for Monday:

Ayr’s meeting on Monday has been abandoned, though I have left this season's Placepot details in the mix for reference purposes.

Average Placepot dividend at Ayr this season (3 meetings):

£30.50

Favourite record in Placepot races:

19 market leaders: 7 winners – 7 placed – 5 unplaced

Placepot details at Lingfield (NH) for last year:

2014: £337.30 (7 favourites – 2 winners – 3 placed – 2 unplaced)

There is some confusion if you look at the trade press because all the races at Lingfield on Monday are listed as ‘new events’.  That said, there was a meeting on the Sunday of the week twelve months ago, whereby I have listed the Placepot declaration accordingly.

Readers might take the view that trainers who send out runners at minor meetings at this time of year might be lured into sending runners to such tracks again this close to Christmas.  For the record (for you to keep if the inclination takes you), the winning trainers at the relevant meeting last year were as follows:

1—Jim Best (5/4*)

1—Jo Davis (25/1)

1—Sophie Leech (7/2)

1—Charlie Longsdon (11/4*)

1—Seamus Mullins (6/4*)

1—Oliver Sherwood (9/4)

Two things to note, all six winning trainers quoted landed their victories from their only runners at the meeting, taking into account that the seventh successful trainer (Richard Lee) has subsequently retired.

Average Lingfield (NH) Placepot dividend this season (4 meetings): £178.78

Favourite stats in Placepot races: 7 winners – 7 placed – 10 unplaced (24)

Chelmsford A/W details:

Favourites have a reasonable record relating to the last seven meetings at the venue.  Especially so, if you consider that the average Placepot dividend during the period stands at £604.33

45 favourites – 16 winners – 12 placed – 17 unplaced

Taking the complete meetings into consideration (beyond Placepot events):

56 favourites – 19 winners – 18 placed – 19 unplaced

Wolverhampton A/W details:

Average Placepot dividend since the start of November (17 meetings): £126.22
