Overview for Monday - please scroll down to the bottom of the page
2.10: Following a quiet weekend by his hectic standards, Richard Hannon will be champing at the bit to get the team up and running again now and with no less than 37 entries for Wednesday at the time of writing, the yard can start off the week in positive fashion here with HAYLAH. Richard’s April foal was only an 8/1 chance on debut in a much better race at Newbury where she ran well enough to suggest that she can win in this grade/company. FASHION SENSE is the obvious danger, given that Time For Wine seems quite content to finish behind a few horses from what we have witnessed thus far.
Favourite factor: This is a new race with which to start proceedings at Bath on Monday.
2.40: HER TERMS makes more appeal than the other joint favourite (Bellevarde) at the time of writing. 7/4 looks a reasonable price about the Clive Cox raider and a quick fire double for the trainer in the first two races on the card is not impossible to envisage by any means. SPIRIT OF ROSANNA is offered up as the main danger to the selection in receipt of eleven pounds, which suggests there might not be a great deal of daylight between the pair at the business end of proceedings.
Favourite factor: Another new race on the Bath programme to assess.
Record of the course winner in the second race:
1/3—Toni’s A Star (good to soft)
3.10: JIM ROCKFORD won going away when scoring over the minimum trip here at Bath a fortnight ago, whereby this additional half furlong should not prove to be a problem. The ground will be a little softer here than the yielding conditions faced two weeks back, but Ralph Beckett’s Showcasing gelding can go in again having got the hang of how to win at the seventh time of asking. Georgia Cox remains excellent value for her five pound claim which can only aid and abet the chance of the selection. Two each way options are nominated for your consideration, namely JOGOGO and BODYBUILDER.
Favourite factor: The three favourites have secured two gold medals and one of the silver variety alongside Placepot positions to date.
Record of the course winner in the third contest on the card:
1/1—Jim Rockford (good to soft)
3.40: Although PASTFACT has gained both of his course victories here on much faster ground, the Malcolm Saunders raider has won with moisture in the turf before now, whilst the additional half a furlong or so will benefit the Pastoral Pursuits gelding who found things happening a little too quickly here recently. The 9/2 quote in the trade press looked accurate enough overnight, though only two firms are still offering those odds after plenty of support these last few hours. OEIL DE TIGRE finished seventh in the race last year but coms into this year’s event in better form, whilst JAGANORY is seeking his fourth win at the venue this term.
Favourite factor: Both favourites have secured Placepot positions thus far without winning their respective events.
Record of the course winner in the fourth event:
2/4—Pastfact (2 x firm)
2/3—Oeil De Tigre (good to firm & soft)
3/19—Jaganory (good – firm – soft)
4.10: It remains to be seen if the two horses on the card than won for Richard Guest yesterday are turned out again though either way, it’s worth pointing out that four of Richard’s last five runners have won. I pointed out his form via another service I offer before yesterday’s 44/1 double which made me a popular bunny whilst others were content to cheer on the ‘Arc’ heroine at odds of 4/5. That said, Enable is a thoroughbred of extraordinary class and if any trainer deserves a top quality filly in his care it is John Gosden. Upwards and onward here by suggesting that LADY JOANNA VASSA would have to be given a chance here under similar conditions if Richard Guest reports that she has eaten up well overnight and is ready to strut her stuff again today. Others of interest include FOXFORD and TEA EL TEE.
Favourite factor: Only two of the six favourites have finished in the frame as we still await the first success market leader to strike from a win perspective from as many races. Indeed, three of the last five winners have scored at 33/1 and 20/1 (twice).
Record of the course winner in the fifth contest on the card:
1/6—Harrison Stickle (good to firm)
4.40: CAPTAIN SCOOBY is on offer at 14/1 at the time of writing and being one of Richard Guest’s potential quartet on the card. The ‘captain’ can outrun those odds with the team in great form, though whether that will be enough to beat the likes of FANTASY JUSTIFIER and NUTINI remains to be seen. For the record, Richard’s other two runners later on the card are Ambitious Icarus (5.10) and another of yesterday’s winners Savannah’s Show (5.40).
Favourite factor: The Placepot finale is another new race at Bath today. Best of luck guys.
Record of the course winner in the last leg of our favourite wager:
1/7—Air Of York (firm)
