MUSSELBURGH – APRIL 24

Sunday's Placepot permutation at Musselburgh:

Leg 1 (2.00): 6 (Sayedaati Saadati) & 4 (Glengarry)

Leg 2 (2.30): 2 (Salvatore Fury), 8 (Opt Out) & 7 (Surewecan)

Leg 4 (3.30): 6 (Rock On Bollonski) & 8 (La Bacouetteuse)

Leg 5 (4.00): 5 (Thournton Lady), 2 (Alpha Delphini) & 6 (Flicka's Boy)

Leg 6 (4.30): 7 (Dark Command) & 4 (Rubis)

Suggested stake: 216 bets to 10p stakes

2.00: Like the other fixture at Thirsk on Sunday, this is a new meeting whereby trends are only conspicuous by their absence.  Upwards and onward by suggesting that SAYEDAATI SAADATI can atone for a slightly disappointing debut effort when backed down to even money to win on debut at Hamilton in August.  This additional quarter of a mile should suit, whilst racing with the pack this time around would surely aid and abet his cause, as opposed to racing wide of others on his first day at school. GLENGARRY could be given a chance if rain arrived, with the majority of Monsieur Bond stock preferring juice in the ground to give of their best.  The older horses should be led home by TAWDEEA

2.30: Keith Dalgleish has his team in good order (five winners this month at the time of writing) and with nine winners greeted at this venue last year, both SALVATORE FURY and GOLD FLASH are expected to figure prominently on behalf of the yard.  OPT OUT has been a consistent winner at the track (albeit via plenty of opportunities), whilst SUREWECAN is well overdue another victory and the Mark Johnston runners hitting from, a second win on his thirtieth start cannot be ruled out of the equation this side of midnight.

Musselburgh record of course winners in the second race:

1/8--Dark Crystal

4/15--Opt Out

3.00: The ground can usually be relied upon to give good ground horses a chance here in Edinburgh and with Mark Johnston having saddled eleven winners at a strike rate of 22% at the track last season, I'm hopeful that FREIGHT TRAIN can regain the winning thread on Sunday.  A winner of two of his seven races on turf, Joe Fanning's mount can score in this grade/company, chiefly at the expense of BRIGHT FLASH and HIDDEN REBEL.

Musselburgh record of course winners in the third contest on the card:

2/3--Hidden Rebel

1/2--Bahamian C

1/3--Azrur

3.30: Callum Shepherd is proving to be a popular apprentice already this season and ROCK ON BOLLINSI should give the young pilot a decent ride here, especially if any rain arrives on cue.  Brian Ellison has recorded 20 points of level stake profits during the last fortnight before Saturday's sport was contested and his six-year-old raider looks sure to run well, whatever the weather decides to do.  Connections might have most to fear from three time course and distance winner LA BACOUETTEUSE and SINAKAR at the business end of proceedings.

Musselburgh record of course winners in the fourth event:

1/10--Love Marmalade

1/5--Pass Muster

1/2--Rocktherunway

5/22--La Bacouetteuse

2/9--Jan Smuts

2/17--Aleksander

4.00: Jim Goldie has declared three of the 'dead eight' runners here, though with all eleven runners beaten this month on the level, Jim has a bit to prove, albeit he saddled seven winners at the track last year.  Wherever Jim saddles winners, there will always be a trail of beaten representatives at one and the same time, and I'm hoping that course and distance winner THOURNTON LADY will lead home his two stable companions on this occasion.  Whether that will be enough to snare gold I'm not sure, with ALPHA DELPHINI and FLICKA'S BOY also having been offered the green light by their respective trainers.

Musselburgh record of course winners in the fifth contest:

6/26--Rothesay Chancer

1/2--Thorntoun Lady

2/6--Noodles Blue Boy

2/14--Bunce

4.30: Taking the stats and facts below, my trio against the other five contenders in another potential 'dead eight' content consists of DARK COMMAND, RUBIS and ALBA DAWN.  The overnight reserve nomination is awarded to the stable companion of Alba Dawn, TOMBE GIRL.

Represented trainers and their records with three-year-olds at Musselburgh - last year and last five years in brackets:

Tom Dascombe (Monsieur Glory) - 0/3 - (0/5)

David Brown (Arizona Sunrise) - 1/2 - (0/3)

Keith Dalgleish (Alba Dawn & Tombe Girl) - 2/8 - (5/47)

Richard Fahey (Rubis) - 5/21 - (17/72)

Alan Swinbank (Trikingdom) - 0/2 - (3/15)

Michael Dods (Dark Command) - 0/1 - (4/12)

Lucy Normile (Granite City Doc) - No runners - (0/3)

All place details offered on my pages relate to an 'exact science', whereby horses that finish third in 5/6/7 runner races (and other such scenarios) are not 'placed' regarding my statistics.
