From Saturday, I will be offering my full Placepot analysis on a daily basis which will start at Kempton’s (Lanzarote Hurdle) meeting and in the meantime, I thought I would offer you a taster of what is to come at the weekend, when greater detail is offered on a wider scale, including the number of ‘trainer runners’ at the meeting and up to date relevant stats and facts.
Chelmsford’s meeting this evening.
5.10: The seven represented trainers 'boast' a ratio of 1/64 during the last fortnight whereby confidence is not very high at the time of writing. NEW LEYF is well in according to the official figures, though Jeremy Gask's ten-year-old hardly has any further scope for improvement. OCEAN LEGEND and ELUSIVITY are expected to offer most resistance at the business end of proceedings.
5.40: BURMESE WHISPER will have been a disappointment to connections, though this 'dead eight' assignment offers Andrew Balding's Approve representative hot Placepot claims at the very least. A beaten favourite on three of his last six starts (sent off at 7/4 and 5/2 on two other occasions during the period), Oisin Murphy's mount will have few better opportunities than this to get off the mark. There will be worse outsiders on the card than INVADE I'll wager, whilst DON'T BLAME ME and ON THE CLOCK should also figure prominently.
6.10: This is one of the more interesting events on the programme and as a more competitive 'dead eight' race than the previous contest, plenty of Placepot units will go up in smoke. ARCAMANTE could outrun his odds from an each way perspective from my viewpoint, albeit more logical winners in the field include SCARLET MINSTREL and FLASHMAN from opposite ends of the handicap. Both horses possess winning form here at Chelmsford as you can see below.
Chelmsford record of course winners in the third race:
6.40: ANJUNA BEACH would have gone close to winning over course and distance earlier in the week but for a tardy start and with Ann Stokell's runners going well just now, Ann's six-year-old should take plenty of kicking out of the frame. Dual license holders Gary Moore (GUNNER MOYNE) and Neil Mulholland (ZARLIMAN) have sought out decent opportunities for their moderate inmates.
Chelmsford record of course winners in the fourth contest on the card:
7.10: Richard Hannon has scored with three of his last four runners, whilst the fourth inmate was beaten less than two lengths. Richard saddles CRYSTAL MALT this time around with definite claims on her Chelmsford debut. Michael Appleby has been saddling plenty of winners since the New Year emerged (6/28) whereby the chance of BE ROYALE is respected. IXELLES DIAMOND only has her second A/W assignment and having run second on the previous occasion, John Egan's mount should be there or thereabouts.
7.40: ROMANCINGTHESTONE makes some appeal in the hands of a seven pound claimer who has already ridden 17 winners and with Stan Moore's three-year-old the only horse in the line-up receiving a concession from the saddle, the Bertolini representative is expected to repel likely challenges from MEMYSELFIE and FREEZE A CROWD.
