5 Minute Placepot

Placepot pointers – Tuesday 24th November 2015

Placepot pointers – Tuesday 24th November 2015

It should be noted that placed/unplaced records are in line with the ruling of bookmakers, i.e. only one win and one place in races for 5/6/7 runners etc.

Corresponding details for Tuesday:

Placepot dividends at Lingfield for the only two meetings in recent years:

2014: £103.00 (6 favourites - 2 winners – 2 placed - 2 unplaced)

2013: £30.90 (6 favourites - 4 winners – 1 placed - 1 unplaced)

Average dividend: £66.95

Favourites (12): 6 winners – 3 placed – 3 unplaced

Out of interest, six favourites have won via fourteen races in all, taking in results beyond the Placepot events.  The average price of all of the winners from the two cards thus far equates to 9/4.

Represented trainers who have saddled at least two winners at the corresponding meeting during the last two years – with runners on Tuesday:

There are no qualifying trainers this year as the only handler to have saddled two winners thus far is Nigel Twiston-Davies who was not represented at the four day stage.

That is unfortunate given his 5/18 record at the track in recent years, with four of those gold medallists having succeeded in hurdle events via eleven representatives.  That might be worth noting given that Lingfield are due to stage another NH meeting next Tuesday (1st December).

Placepot dividends at Sedgefield for the only two meetings in recent years:

2014: £16.70 (5 favourites - 3 winners - 1 placed – 1 unplaced)

Your first 30 days for just £1

2013: £56.00 (7 favourites - 2 winners – 1 placed -- 4 unplaced)

Average dividend: £36.35

Favourites (12): 5 winners – 2 placed – 5 unplaced

For information purposes, only five races formed the Placepot wager in 2014 as one of the contests was declared void.

Out of interest, no trainer has saddled more than one winner in recent years, whilst six market leaders have obliged via thirteen events taking in the additional contests beyond the Placepot races.

That said, four winners have been returned in double figures (25/1 – 14/1 – 14/1 – 10/1) whereby the average winning price thus far equates to 11/5 which takes the (2/9 – 1/3 – 1/2) odds on chances into account.

November Placepot dividends at Southwell (A/W):

Tuesday 3rd: £313.80 (6 favourites - 2 winners – 2 placed - 2 unplaced)

Thursday 12th: £24.90 (9 favourites - 2 winners – 3 placed - 4 unplaced)

Average dividend: £169.35

Favourites (15): 4 winners – 5 placed –6 unplaced

Six meetings on the Fibresand surface at Southwell have passed since the £1000 barrier was breached which came hot on heels of a £2.979.10 return on Tuesday 31st March.

That dividend came about via a 66/1 winner in a four runner (win only) event which is why I invariably include all runners in win only events because an upset can produce fantastic returns.

This was the case back in March when the other results on the card were anything but outrageous.  Indeed, three of the other five favourites finished in the frame.

If a really hot favourite is involved in a win only event, I will invariably offer a secondary permutation using the market leader as a banker to offset the loss of three losers in the relevant event via my original wager.
