Race of the Day - 18:40 Dundalk

The Trainer Jockey Combo Stats report shows what an excellent record Ger Lyons and Colin Keane have together at Dundalk over the past year. From 63 runners, they have had 18 winners (28.57%) and 38 places (60.32%) for level stakes profits of 7.52 and 19.82. This has also produced an Impact Value of 3.42, meaning they are almost three and a half times more likely than average to have the winner.

They have three runners together at Dundalk today, and it is Artistic Melody that I am going to be taking a closer look at.

This is the handicap debut for Artistic Melody, but she has been running consistently in maidens and was a good winner last time out at Killarney. That was dropping back down in trip to a mile and it appeared to her liking, so it will be interesting to see how she gets on today in handicap company over that trip.

Ger Lyons has a decent record here at Dundalk, as over the past year he's had 18 winners from 82 runners (21.95%) which has produced an Impact Value of 2.63.

The Trainer Snippets on the racecard also show that he is good with runners entering a handicap for the first time and is adept at getting his horses ready after a break of over 60 days, both of these having Impact Values of almost 2.

Jockey Colin Keane also enjoys coming here, as over the past year he's ridden 34 winners (19.65%) and 82 places (47.40%) from 173, for level stakes profits of 4.35 and 26.90 respectively, and has an Impact Value of 2.35.

There aren't too many sections of green on the Instant Expert report when on the 'Place' setting, however, Artistic Melody has two sections of green and two of amber, showing that she is reasonably well suited to today's conditions.

The Pace report shows that early leaders here over this distance have the best record, with prominent runners next best.

Artistic Melody is usually quite prominent in her races and as there doesn't appear to be a real out and out front-runner in this field, if she can get away from the stalls well she has a great opportunity to grab a good early position.
