Race of the Day - 21:10 Kempton
Today we are taking a look at a six furlong race on the all weather track at Kempton, which is riding on the slow side.
He's My Boy, trained by James Fanshawe, is the favourite. Fanshawe has an excellent course record here at Kempton, as we can see from the green characters below his name. Clicking on the trainer icon below the horses name to look at the detail, it shows us that he has an almost 22% win record and 46% place record. These are fantastic figures and his win P/L to level stakes is 45.98 over the past five years. Therefore, he is definitely a trainer to look out for at this course.
The Shortlist is the report that is made available to all users on a Tuesday, and is an excellent tool for highlighting horses with decent chances for the day.
Set to the 'place' option, we can see that For Ayman stands out as really being suited by today's conditions, and at a price of 14/1, he is worth a closer look.
The Instant Expert tab further illustrates the credentials of For Ayman, although it should be noted that he is six pounds higher in the handicap than for his last victory.
No others stand out too much on this report, there is lots of amber for quite a few of them, but very little green.
Leaders have the best record here, which given the distance is to be expected, however a win strike rate of under 18% isn't particularly high. Therefore I wouldn't be quick to rule out horses that don't usually race right up with the pace.
Interestingly, none of the field are definite front runners when looking at their last four races. Rigolleto is normally up close to the pace so he potentially may lead.
Due to the lack of a confirmed front runners there may be quite a slow start with no horse keen to take them along. If this is the case then it could be quite a muddling race and turn into a mad dash over the last furlong.
The Draw tab shows that low numbers do have a definite advantage, with a 40% of the placed horses being drawn low. Again, looking at the figures, I wouldn't be placing too much importance on this, but if you are leaning towards a particular runner and they are drawn low, all the better.
