Race of the Day - 18:25 Chelmsford

The Trainer Snippets report shows that Archie Watson has a brilliant record (albeit from a smallish sample) with his runners coming out to race again within seven days of their previous run. From 19 runners, he's had 10 winners (52.63%) and 14 places (73.68%) for level stakes profits of 22.07 and 26.45 respectively. This has also produced an Impact Value of 3.71, meaning he is more than three and a half times more likely that average to have the winner.

He runs Mach One at Chelmsford today and he fits the profile.

The current form of Mach One shows that he has been running well in his last couple of races. Last time out over course and distance he was only just headed on the line and beaten into second place. That was in a slightly better handicap than today, and he gets to run from the same mark in this one. Therefore, if he runs to a similar level he must have a decent chance.

When looking at the Trainer Snippets on the racecard we can see that the overall form over Watson is appealing. He has been among the winners over the past couple of weeks (3/8 for 6.13 points and an Impact Value of 4.04). He also has a good long-term record here at Chelmsford, and in fact at the all-weather courses in general.

There are not too many sections of green on the Instant Expert report when on the 'Place' setting, alluding to the possibility that a lot of the field are not that well suited to today's conditions, and consequently, the race may not take a lot of winning.

Mach One does have three sections of green so looks reasonably well suited and comes out about the best of the lot on this report.

The Pace report shows that early leaders here over this distance have a good record, with 19.34% of them going on to win the race for a level stakes profit of 38.70.

Tilly Devine and Mach One look the most likely early leaders, therefore, I am hoping that Edward Greatrex can find a nice early position and give himself the best chance to strike from there.
